*whispers* hey! hey! we have just ONE MORE silent book club meeting this year!

That's right, next Thursday, November 12th at 5pm, we will be hosting the final silent book club of 2026. So make sure you bring your current read, and maybe a chair and/or blanket, and join us for an hour of peaceful reading.

If you can't make it this time, not to worry, we will be picking Silent Book Club back up in the new year - with TWO regular meeting times per month! Until then, we hope to see you soon.

Astonishing to believe, next week's Social Justice Book Club meeting is the last one of 2026! (Don't worry, we will be starting up again and continuing the work in January.)

Join us next Wednesday, November 11 at 5pm, when we will be discussing the book, Weaving Community: Indigenous Women and Leadership in the Twin Cities edited by Collette A. Hyman & Audrey Thayer.

Copies of the book are currently available in the bookstore.

One Week until the last in-store meeting of Manga Book Club for 2026!

🎃Bookstore Horror Day is almost here!🎃
🎃The Zombie Bookstore Crawl is almost here!🎃

We are howling at the moon with excitement - Spooky season is officially upon us and we are creeping ever closer to Halloween, or more importantly, our 3rd Annual Bookstore Horror Day and our 1st ever Zombie Bookstore Crawl - ! (Because let’s be honest, readers have the best brains.)

This year's 13 participating bookstores are: Acorn Bookshop, Avant Garden Bookstore, Black Garnet, Comma, A Bookshop, Cream and Amber, Dream Haven, Irreverent Bookworm, Magers and Quinn, Moon Palace Books, Other Skies Weird Fiction, Red Balloon Bookshop, The Thinking Spot, and us, Next Chapter Booksellers!

We will all be handing out and stamping mini passports. Each stamp serves as a coupon that you can bring back in February for 20% off of a single transaction. Plus, if you make it to 10 bookstores, you can enter to win a really cool giveaway, and if you make it to all 13, you will get an extra entry in the giveaway! There will also be a doorbuster treat (while supplies last)!

The Zombie Bookstore Crawl is just one part of our plans for Bookstore Horror Day. The store will be transformed and the staff will be in costume, offering zero tricks but plenty of treats. Some of these include: dedicated displays to all things horror, ARCs, giveaways, in-store activities and more!

On A Schedule:
🎃Not So Spooky Story Time at 10:45 am for kiddos of all ages, our resident storyteller will be reading Murray's How-o-ween by E.G. Keller, and Pumpkin Thief by Alice Hemming and Nicola Slater

🎃Speculative Fiction Book Club will be meeting at 4pm to discuss The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson.

PLUS:
🎃Each store will have its own way of celebrating the day, so be sure to try to check out all 13 stores!

Eek! We are so excited for next week's event for Naomi Kritzer's Obstetrix!

Join us next Friday, October 30th (Bookstore Horror Day Eve) at 6pm, as we listen to a conversation between two of our favorite thrilling local authors, Naomi Kritzer and Annie Neugebauer!

Perfect for fans of Yesteryear, Obstetrix is a tense portrait of a not so distant future we desperately hope to escape. This staff pick is perfect for the spooky season - and beyond!

Copies of Obstetrix, along with Annie Neugebauer's latest book, will be available for purchase at the event. Both authors will be signing copies for attendees after the event.

This is free and open to the public - we hope to see you there!

Join us in celebration of the paperback release of The Many Mothers of Dolores Moore by local author, Anika Fajardo! (It's a staff pick and MN Book Award Finalist!)

The launch celebration is NEXT MONDAY, October 26th at 6pm, where copies of the book will be available (one day before it's publication date) and Anika will be signing copies for attendees afterward.

This event is free and open to the public. You can find more information either on our website, or by talking to a bookseller during your next visit to the bookstore.

We are just 13 days until Halloween and our Third Annual Bookstore Horror Day, as well as our Inaugural Zombie Bookstore Crawl!🧟📚

Speaking of the Zombie Bookstore Crawl -- we are over the full werewolf moon with excitement to announce that we officially have THIRTEEN indie bookstores participating!

Similar to Indie Bookstore Day, we will be handing out mini passports where the stamp from each store serves as a coupon that you can bring back in February for 20% off of a single transaction. (That is up to 20% off at 13 stores!)

Plus, if you make it to 10 bookstores, you can enter to win a really cool giveaway, and if you make it to all 13, you will get an extra entry in the giveaway! (plus bragging rights and more!)
