Stop the Pursuit - by Eugene Mills
When is it time to stop? This is the question we all ask in relation to pursuing things in our lives. We hate to stop, donāt want to stop, we may even feel itās worth it to continue but realize itās time to stop.
This pursuit can be anything. It may be a job promotion, a financial status, a search for pleasure, or even a desired relationship. Again, we humans have so many desires and we will pursue them for days, weeks, months or possibly even a lifetime. But, when is long enough, long enough?
I realize that some things are totally worth never giving up on. I realize that if you give up today the answer may have been coming tomorrow. But, I also understand that the pursuit of some things will never come to be what we desire. And truthfully, thatās Ok. Maybe itās not meant to be.
Figure out YOUR dreams. The things, places, and people that mean the most to you is where you should focus and just leave the rest behind. Resist the urge to fulfill the dreams of others for YOUR life. Find YOUR passions and STOP pursuing the things that canāt make that successful for you.
I, Eugene, need to do a better job of doing these things. Do I care what my family and friends think? Sure I do. But, at the end of the day, their passions may not be the same as mine. Iāve got to work on being less worried what family and friends will think and live MY life. Am I guilty of allowing the opposite to happen? Sure I am.
But, I also have a responsibility to make God honoring decisions as I pursue my passions. That may require me to quit making excuses, take some chances, and expect some failures. I have had a few lately. Anybody that has read to this point knows that one, two, or ten failures will not stop Eugene Mills for any amount of time. I will push on. But, I will only pursue so far and for so long, and I know when to say enough is enough.
Whatās my point?
1. Quit making and / or using excuses
2. Only pursue what you deem valuable enough to use your time on. Itās never a waste of time if it means something to you.
3. Donāt be afraid of failure and rejection because that WILL happen.
4. Never let anyone tell you YOUR dreams and aspirations are not good enough
5. Take a chance. It very well may be the very best one youāve ever taken. And, if it crashes and burns no one can fault you for trying.
6. Honor God to the best of your ability as you do each of these things.
Maybe I needed to type it just for myself or maybe someone out there may have needed to hear it. Either way now I need to get busy living it. You ???
