We make guitar strings. But we also consider ourselves problem solvers. 😉

Problem: Guitar strings don’t last long.

Solution: Well… you’ll see.

Before Cleartone Strings, there were Star Picks.

In the 1990s, Phil Everly created Star Picks after decades of touring and searching for a simple solution to a problem every guitarist knows—keeping your pick from slipping while you play.

His solution was the patented Star Shape™ cutout, designed to give your fingers a natural gripping point while still allowing the pick to move comfortably as you play.

Pictured is the original Star Picks logo design, a piece of our history that goes back to where it all began.

Decades later, the design is still going strong.

Built by a player. Made for players.

We recently came across this pretty cool excerpt in Barry Mazor’s Blood Harmony: The Everly Brothers Story, released last year.

Mazor writes about Phil Everly’s penchant for tinkering in his workshop with his sons. That tinkering eventually led Phil and Jason Everly to develop and patent a guitar-string treatment designed to make strings last longer and play louder — and ultimately to the creation of Cleartone Strings.

What started with some tinkering in a workshop grew into a guitar string company that’s still manufacturing strings more than 20 years later.

Pretty cool to see this piece of Cleartone history documented all these years later.

After a restful weekend, we’re back at it.

Kyle is locked in on the winding machine while Kaedyn sorts bulk gauges and gets everything ready for the week ahead.

Just another Monday making strings right here in the USA. 🇺🇸
