Training for a big adventure in May. I will be hiking the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim in one day with a group of badass women. 24 miles with over 4K elevation.

Set a goal that both excites you and terrifies you. That’s where we grow, just outside our comfort zone. So in order to enjoy my big adventure more than I have to endure it, I’ve been in training. Hill repeats and a hiker specific workout. It’s tough, but I’m loving it.

Getting stronger so that I can adventure is the best workout.

Spring of 2021 I set out on a mission to find 🔦 clean skin care that allowed me to not only kick toxins to the curb, but to bring in the benefits of nature 🐝, and in some case fight human trafficking. I’ve finally done it. These are my favorites after trying a ton of products and brands. These are the ones that beat the rest, and not only work, but work miracles on my skin and well-being. If getting your skin care from nature rather than toxins is on your list too ☑️, I’m happy to share what I’ve learned. If you have some favorites, I’d love to hear about them.

Self Care. So many people think that self care means one thing for everyone. It’s a $300 spa package - a massage, a facial, soaking in a hot spring, and high end products. It’s true that this can be self care, for some.

The good news is that self care comes in many forms and looks different for everyone. My self care may look different than yours and yours may look different than others’. That’s the way it should be. Our individual path to renewal is ... individualized.

If you haven’t found what renews your soul, it’s ok to try out some ideas. For me, my energy and renewal comes from fresh air, nature, moving my body, sunshine, a breeze, and remembering our connection we have to our environment.

Hiking. Hitting the trail. The sound of my shoes on the dirt. Watching a hawk soar above me. A deep and purposeful breath. This is what my self care looks like and sounds like.

Mother Nature is making herself known today in my neighborhood. These storms put a halt to my daily hiking adventures, but also bring opportunity to get creative with my kiddos indoors. It’s all about perspective and turning a situation out of my control into an opportunity of my making.

If you are in need of another reason to get outside for a walk, how about this one.

If I can’t hit the trail, I love a good walk through the neighborhood. I live in an area where the weather is almost always beautiful, the people smile, wave, and say hi, and the landscape is inspiring. Today though, my joy came from the unexpected. It came from the smile and laugh that this decorated anomaly brought.

So, get up, step outside, and explore. You never know what you may find.

What do you do when you feel glued to the couch and binge watching The Good Place? Get up, put your shoes on, step outside, and walk. I love my neighborhood walks so much. I live at the edge of a national forest and it never disappoints.

When women support each other the world changes.

I 💯 believe this. I have a mom who would move mountains for me. I have a sister in law who shows unconditional love and understanding. I have a neighbor who saves me from insanity. I have colleagues who challenge me and celebrate my achievements. I have a boss who believes in my ability to lead. I have women at church who inspire me to be my best self. I also have confidence that I am capable of achieving my greatest dreams and biggest goals.
