Yesterday the city council voted yes on Item 65, banning wood-burning fires outside of the very few and not so well placed city fire rings San Diego has left.
Although this is not the outcome we had hoped for, the amount of support shown from the community was incredible. There were 696 public comments submitted! We were told 200 is considered a lot for any other big proposal. Of the 696, about 660 opposed the proposed restrictions on wood fires.
With that being said, the law does not go into effect until 30 days after the mayor signs and the city clerk signs off. So, if you want to get out there and warm up next to some of our last wood-fueled provided fires, visit our website and schedule your beach fire now! Spots are already filling up fast!
