What is the meaning behind our logo?

Xing’s Cafe is named after Dora’s grandmother Monxing. She went by the name Xing/Sing for short, which means lion in Lao. Our design is inspired by the Buddhist mythical creature singh/singha which is found in folklore in southeast Asian countries like Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. It symbolizes power, strength, and spiritual protection. Gold is deeply rooted in Lao culture and has been part of our heritage for thousands of years. In Theravada Buddhism, gold represents incorruptibility, purity, and enlightenment🙏🙏🙏

Introducing Xing’s Cafe. San Diego’s first Lao cafe! This has been a vision of ours way before we started and we’re finally taking the steps to make it happen. With the coffee scene being so big in Laos, it’s surprisingly unheard of in San Diego despite San Diego’s large Lao population.

We are not your typical cafe, we don’t use espresso machines. Our Lao coffee is steeped in a cloth filter and poured over multiple times, just like how you’d see in the streets of Laos. Our Vietnamese coffee is brewed through a phin; slow dripped and highly concentrated. We also serve other drinks you commonly see in our neighboring countries such as Thai tea (ours is dye free😉) We take pride in sourcing high quality products from our beans, loose leaf tea, condensed milk, and beyond to serve you the best drinks.

We are beyond ecstatic to start this new journey and connect with our community. We look forward to sharing our culture through our beverages one cup at a time.
