Since my early childhood collecting days, I’ve appreciated the colorful package designs our cherished vintage Baseball and Football cards came in. The colorful wax packs and the display boxes were designed to hook us kids into spending every penny, nickel and dime from our allowances, or in my case, the hard-earned money from my newspaper route. Remember the after school trips to the local drug or

five & dime store? I couldn’t wait to rip into those wax packs to find my favorite team or players. How about the holiday money you used to purchase a whole wax box? Now that was just like Christmas! The neighborhood grocery store opens in 2 hours, I better get hoofin! After amassing several shoe boxes full of cardboard gems, I realized organizing my cards had become a real challenge. I could only go through so many pairs of shoes to get more boxes and really found it unmanly to use my mothers shoe boxes. My supply of free rubber bands (courtesy of my delivery route) used to bind team sets was dwindling. If you’re in my age bracket, I’m sure these challenges are quite familiar. Luckily, relief was just around the bend. Finally, collector binders/albums came into vogue and provided a good way to store and view the cards, but boy were they bland looking and featured generic designs which is contrary to the vintage lure of the hobby. Hello. My Name is Phil Worthington. I was a good friend of the owner of Baseball Card Album Binders by BCB. I have purchased his business from his familly. All of us are very sad about loosing him in the late part of 2021. It was a sudden, unexpected heart issue. It has been a long process in getting everything somewhat organized... mainly by his family. I have brought the website back up and binders are again for sale. The same artwork, with the same quality binders. It will be some time until additions are made to the catalog, since the site was only re-started a few weeks ago. 1970-71 Dad's Cookies Hockey Cards.

The Dad’s Cookies hockey card series consisted of 144 cards, each measuring 1-7/8″ wide and 5-3/8″ tall. The backs of each card were exactly the same with a special offer for a mail-in NHLPA decal. The fronts pictured a player and along with their stats from the 1969-70 season.
The stars abound in this nifty set and are lead Jean Beliveau, Gordie Howe, Bobby Orr, Bobby Clarke & Gilbert Perreault. The cards are still relatively inexpensive which makes it a fun and easy chase to hunt down all 144.

THE AFL CHARGERS...
Here's a rarely seen old video (link below) that's a true throwback to the ole AFL football days. The video features John Hadl the San Diego Chargers quarterback along with several other players. For you uniform fanatics, you may have noticed the different bolt logos on the lineman's helmets.
The background shows the old Balboa Stadium located in east downtown SD and was the teams home turf 1961 through 1966 and is still in existence today. My son actually scored his first Pop Warner touchdown on an 88 yard catch and scamper wearing #19 and coincidentally is named Lance. Ok ok, no coincidence. I hope you enjoy the video...
