Question: How often do you as artist try to create something out of your comfort range and does it help make you better or do you wind up frustrated and go to what you know?

Ok so I am considering making my own oil paints. I have the basic idea of how to do this and realize, like everything else, it will take time and practice and patience to get good at it. The question is: Has anyone got any experience with this and if so is there a realistic benefit to making your own oils?

Great news for my fans. I have now the ability to make thank you cards. I will have a 1st edition for sale featuring this piece “rising wisdom’s” oil on canvas 16x20. With a 1st edition you get 5 thank you cards and a bonus one that is featured with photo paper instead of card stock. And will be hand signed and numbered. Only 5 sets of first editions available. Size of these will be 5 1/2”x 9” as will the special card only the five people who buy them. The price will be $30.00. Once they are gone will be move on to second edition and will cost same. I got this one framed. Little harder to find a 12x24 frame for this oil on canvas which I named “up from below”. To me it looks great, how about you?

If you look back on your past art which piece do you enjoy looking on and why?
This was from 2012 in oil on a 16x20 and before I change my signature. I did it for my eldest daughter and didn’t even name it, my dad did one and it actually matched this painting in the same year without collaborating prior to the reveal of the two paintings.
