Favorite Places to visit as a Central Coast Local ✨️

Born and raised in Santa Maria so I'm always a little hesitant when it comes to trying out bbq places but this one was fun and different - 805 BBQ 805 BBQ RESTAURANT

First Note I want to make is that they only Slow Smoke on saturdays , so if you're wanting anything off the slow smoke menu (like brisket) , you'll need to make sure you get there early on Saturday

The portions are massive, the sauce is good. There's beer on tap and a patio in the back. They have both SM Style BBQ and The slow smoke style.

Prices are fair for the amount of food you get. We split all of this amongst 5 people and had a tremendous amount of leftovers to take home. Such a good place to visit with your family, especially on a sunny Saturday!

Recent meals I've made at home that I actually eat and enjoy ✨️

We don't go out to eat too often, but when i get a craving for something, i search up the recipe, and make it at home from scratch.

No jarred, canned, or bottled sauces from the store and I try to keep all my ingredients to ten or less.

Is it time consuming? It can be

Is it worth it? Hell yeah!

The kitchen is really where flow state begins for me

Mongolian Beef & Broccoli with white rice

Fish & Chips. Freshly caught and freshly cut. Peeled, cut, and fried. Fileted, hand battered, and deep fried.

Orange chicken, Fried Rice, and BROCCOLINI. Hand battered with fresh squeezed orange juice for the sauce

Omg this was the one! I was craving chilis honey Chipotle sauce, so I made this to suffice

Buttermilk Hand Battered, Hot Honey Yenders with Homemade Bacon Mac and Cheese, fresh green beans and a side of texas toast

Mediterranean style chicken and rice with Greek salad, a side of pita, and fresh homeade TZATZIKI sauce.

You know I love me some petras, but since its a bit of a drive, I made it at home.

Aragula, Fresh Peaches, Prosciutto, and Burrata drizzled with a peach Balsamic glaze

I've been so hyperfixated on this meal, its fresh, salty, and sweet, with a little crunch

Caprese but sub mozzarella for burrata. Another obsession i have .

Just give me all the burrata !!!

Here's what I know about progressing in the gym and why you might not be .....

You don't have a specific goal and you know you "just want to loose weight"

Pick a specific goal and stick to it !

If your goal is glute growth (like mine) you're training needs to reflect that goal

Meaning you need to be training glutes 2/3x a week, while continously progressing to heavier loads

You're doing too many workouts!

You don't need multiple workouts for every gym session. You don't need 25 reps in each set

You need to structure your workouts around a few exercises that will allow you to progress over time (not only in weight but form as well)

My favorite Glute growth exercises that I use over and over again to progress and build muscle. Meaning when I first started a few years ago I wasn't capable of lifting more than 25 lbs, 4 years later and i can lift my body weight and more, because I stuck to the same exercises and gradually progressed over time

- bridging / hip thrusts
- Split squats / lunges
- Step UPs
- HIP Abductions
- Back Extensions
- Curtsy lunges

Progressive overload doesn't mean adding weight to every single workout. Progression can also mean

- Upping the amount of reps
- Extending your range of motion
- More control / precision

The goal is to get your muscles to do more (over time)

You don't think you did enough because your body isn't sore.

Don't confuse soreness with progress

You can have an incredible workout and wake up the next morning feeling completely normal and able to walk, bend, and stretch

Soreness doesn't equate to or determine progress Just like the scale doesn't determine your size and shape

You search and scramble social media for a workout everytime you're at the gym

You don't need an extensive list of workouts. But you need a structured one. The glutes aren't one big muscle, they're actually three

Glute max
Glute medius
Glute minimus

This is why it's important to have a goal with a structured workout, and someone who knows what they're doing.

Different exercises target different muscles of the glutes

Theres a difference between compound and isolation and you need both!

Favoerite Places to visit as a Central Coast Local ✨️

First up - Anderson Social ☕️ a cute little coffee shop by day that makes you feel like you've been transported to Europe, and on some evenings during the weekend, they turn the place into a jazz bar. I love stopping here whenever I'm in SLO.

I threw in a couple of pictures from my very first edc, because day 3 was so nostalgic!!!!!! The vibes were immaculate and it felt like i was reliving the golden era all over again ✨️ dancing with strangers in a sea of people 😭 my phone was cooked with storage so I barely got any videos

The storm i had to brace through just to get inside the venue 😩 somehow my hair managed to make it through

Most magical nostalgic moment. On the rail for Zedd, everyone singing, Dancing with a stranger , it was a perfect way to end the festival

April showers bring May Flowers 💐

Lots of birthdays.

Which meant lots of family time.

Been soaking up those precious moments with my little bestie 💕

My schedule is quite the opposite of most, I take the winter and spring months off for vacation and work my ass off during the summer, so in other words I've been prepping with lots of self care, for a busy summer at work and home.

You know I live in the moment and post about it weeks later. Thanks for always tuning in 💕💖💕
