No debt. No inbox. No notifications. No performance reviews. Just a bike, some snacks, and "be home before dark". That may have been the real golden era. Growing up in the 70s and 80s was the best.

What’s one men’s grooming product from the past you wish they’d never discontinued?

Could be an aftershave, cologne, shaving cream, hair product—anything you remember being better than what replaced it.

What’s something you refuse to rush?

Coffee in the morning? A good meal? Wet shaving? A drink at the end of the day? Time with family? Maybe just sitting outside doing absolutely nothing for a while.

Somewhere along the way, we got very good at making everything faster. I'm not convinced we're better off for all of it.

There’s something to be said for doing a few things the slow way.

For me, living well isn't necessarily about having more. Sometimes it's simply about not rushing through the good stuff.

Whatever happened to aftershave?

There was a time when a splash of aftershave was simply part of getting ready. Shave. Rinse. Splash. Done.

Somewhere along the way, that ritual started disappearing. Balms, moisturizers, and modern skincare took over—and fragrance itself became more about cologne than what came immediately after the shave.

But I think something was lost along the way.

A good aftershave splash isn't just about scent. It's the finish to the shave—the cooling splash, the fragrance, and that unmistakable feeling that you're ready for the day.

Maybe some rituals are worth keeping.

Mine takes me straight back to another time. Funny how a scent can do that better than almost anything else.
