Death is one of those things that happens in life-Every life- that can completely change a person. For the good, or for the worst. No one can prepare you for how it is going to affect you, or how you are going to react. Some people do a complete 180 from what path they were on, some finding their path that works for them and some falling off it. One thing is for sure, it changes something in you.

It could be the death of a parent, sibling, loved one, friend, pet, or long relationship. All these things can change you, all are things you grieve. And grief has five stages that are not talked about enough. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.

The crazy part? Not everyone goes through each of them and not in order. Sometimes they change up on you too. There is also a stage no one tells you about- Relief. This is for those who were suffering, for the ones who stood beside them battling things like cancer. Death feels like a relief because the fight with death was a long hard one and finally there is a victor. Some see this feeling as a bad thing. It’s not.

I make this post because my personal life has been full of ups and downs, and for the past few years we have had multiple deaths in the family. Deaths of parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents, uncles, and animals. We have dealt with heart disease, cancer, lung failure, multiple organ failure, and old age… Now I don’t say this to get pity, I say this to help you understand that the direction of my page is changing, and why I had stopped posting for so long.

I want to continue to post, giving you Witchy content, however I am opening the space for those who have loss people in their lives and who are struggling with it.

If you wish to stay, you are always welcomed.
If this is not the space you wish to be,
Bless be our parting until we meet again.
If you are new to my space.
Welcome.

One of the things changing is the name,
While we will continue to journey into the Spirit
We will be re-branding as The Veiled Hedge.
For those of us on this side of the Hedge
Only able to glimpse into the Veil.

I am Phoenix,
Rising from the Ashes.
Bless be.

✨ So You Want To Be a Witch? Pull Up a Stump, Babe. ✨

First off—welcome to the wild, wonderful, occasionally messy world of Witchcraft. Glad you made it to the cottage door. Second—and I say this with all the love of a cranky forest auntie—please fact-check what you read. Not every “witch tip” online is brewed from the freshest herbs, if you know what I mean.

Now onto the real reason I’m tapping this out while sipping my mugwort tea: three spell types every baby witch should start with. Why? Because you need little-to-nothing, they actually work, and they won’t set your kitchen on fire. (…yet.)

🗣️ 1. Chants — Your Voice Is Your First Wand

You already have everything you need: your breath, your intention, and the picture in your mind of the outcome you want.
Here’s a cleansing chant for when depression’s been squatting in your space or life’s been serving you nonsense:

“Cleanse this space, remove the past.
I’ve found my happiness at long last.
Fill this space with joy and love.
Send your blessing from above.”

Say it like you mean it. Feel the good energy sweeping out the stale junk. Imagine warmth and love filling every corner. Boom—magic.

🧵 2. Knot Spells — Tie It, Claim It

All you need is string or ribbon. As you tie each knot, you speak your intent and visualize exactly what you want. Knots are usually done in counts of 3, 7, 9, or 13—witchy numbers with some oomph behind them.
Match the ribbon color to your purpose if you can, but don’t panic if all you have is yarn from the junk drawer. Hedge witches improvise like champs.

Great for: protection, healing, glamours, general “I’m manifesting this whether the universe likes it or not.”

3. Candle Magic — The Classic, the Cozy, the Powerful

Candle magic is iconic for a reason. You pick a candle in a color that suits your intention, focus on your outcome, speak your words, and let that baby burn.
Short on time? Birthday candles are tiny, fast, and ridiculously convenient—don’t sleep on them.
Trust me: once you start, you’ll end up with a rainbow collection of candles in shapes, sizes, and vibes you didn’t even know existed.

✨ Let’s talk about Energy & Intention in Witchcraft, witches — because some of y’all are out here wondering why your spells are falling flat like day-old soda. 🍵

We’re breaking it down Hedge Witch style, so grab your tea and your cauldron — this one’s juicy.

💫 Every spell needs three main ingredients:
The Need. The Intention. The Energy.
Without these three? Babe, it’s just smoke and vibes.

🌿 The Need
Ask yourself — what’s the job here? Are you healing? Protecting? Manifesting that new job or extra cash?
If you’re casting just because you feel like it, your magic will know. A spell without purpose is like trying to drive with no gas. The Need is your fuel.

🔥 The Intention
Now that you know why, let’s talk about what you want to happen.
Example: You need an extra $100. Your intention? To get that game you’ve been eyeing.
The intention gives direction to your energy — it’s your magical GPS.

⚡ The Energy
This is the juice that makes it all move. The universe needs room to deliver your request, so it might toss you a covered shift or an unexpected refund.
The spell sets the wheels turning — but you’ve got to walk the path too. If the universe hands you that shift and you say “nah,” well… you just turned down your own spell, babe.

🌙 Bonus Power-Ups:
Planetary and lunar energy 🌕, herbs 🌿, crystals 💎, and your spell ingredients — they’re all boosters. They amplify your energy, not replace it.

Because listen — if you want something big, like a whole house 🏡, your magic better match that scale. That means layers, focus, and big energy.

So before you light that candle, ask yourself:
✨ Why do I need this spell?
✨ What outcome am I truly calling in?
✨ How much energy and effort am I willing to pour in?

Magic is co-creation, witch. You do your part, the universe does hers.

Now go on — charge up that energy, set that intention, and cast like the powerful hedge witch you are. 🖤✨

💫 Spell Workings 101 (with a dash of sass)

So… someone once asked me: “What’s the difference between a Hex and a Sour Jar?”
And babe, the answer isn’t as simple as you think.

Here’s the tea:
A Hex = the category of spell (the “what it does”).
A Sour Jar = the method (the “how it’s done”).

Think of it like this: you don’t order “pizza delivery” and call it “pizza delivery” food. No, honey, it’s PIZZA 🍕 (category) delivered to your door (method). Same vibe.

✨ Categories of spells = what you’re aiming for:
Love 💕, Protection 🛡️, Baneful 🔮, Healing 🌿, Money 💰, Manifestation ✨, etc.

✨ Methods of workings = how you’re pulling it off:
Jar/Bottle 🫙, Candle 🕯️, Knot 🪢, Chant 🗣️, Petition 📝, Bowl 🥣 … you get the idea.

So yeah—your Sour Jar is basically a Hex in a jar. It’s designed to sour someone’s life. Depending on your intent and how long you let it brew, it can even slide into Curse territory.

And for my “But what if I light a candle and chant and stir a cauldron while wearing my fiercest eyeliner?” babes…
👉 That’s a ritual. A big, layered working where you’re stacking energies, building power, and protecting your magic.

Moral of the story?
Don’t overcomplicate it. Know your category, choose your method, and cast with confidence.

💅✨ Let’s Talk Protection Magic (a.k.a. Witchy Seatbelts for Life) ✨💅

So here’s the deal—if you’ve been hanging around witchy spaces for even five minutes, you’ve already heard the word protection tossed around more than pumpkin spice in October. Wards, charms, jewelry, teas, shields, blah blah blah. Cute, right? But let’s get real: why is this the one thing we stress the most? Let me spill it. 🫖

🔮 First off, EVERYONE needs a little protection magic.
Yes, even you—Miss “nothing bad ever happens to me.” Newsflash: no one’s in control 24/7. Stubbed toes, rude drivers, energy vampires at work… the list is endless. A sprinkle of protection magic is basically like carrying around your own cosmic insurance policy.

✨ Second, protection magic is stupid simple.
You don’t need a 3-hour ritual under a blood moon with seven herbs and a chalice of unicorn tears. Sometimes it’s as quick as whispering a charm under your breath when you feel off. Will the skies crack open? No. But will you feel calmer, safer, and more grounded? Absolutely.

🌌 Now for the juicy part no one tells you.
When you open yourself up to the universe, not everything floating out there is your BFF. Some energies (and beings 👀) will try to cling, feed, or just be messy. Think of it like opening your DMs—you’re gonna get both sweet souls and the occasional chaos gremlin. Protection magic is how you keep the gremlins OUT.

So yeah, protect yourself in the mundane and magical. Because your energy is premium real estate, babe—don’t let just anyone (or anything) squat there.

✨🖤 Stay warded, stay witchy.

🌿 10 Things That Are SO Annoying in Witchcraft 🔮

Okay witches, let’s get real. We love our craft, but sometimes… it comes with a side of ✨ugh✨. Here are the top things that make us roll our eyes:

1️⃣ Gatekeepers – “You’re not a real witch unless…” Nope. Bye.
2️⃣ $45 Crystal Candles – Girl, it’s literally a tealight with glitter.
3️⃣ TikTok Spells Gone Wild – No, blowing cinnamon once won’t fix your whole life.
4️⃣ Fearmongering – “Don’t ever do this or you’ll be cursed forever!” 🙄
5️⃣ Cultural Appropriation – Respect closed practices. Period.
6️⃣ Label Wars – Hedge witch, green witch, kitchen witch… it’s still witchcraft, babes.
7️⃣ Aesthetic Pressure – Not every spell looks like Pinterest. Sometimes it’s mud + smoke.
8️⃣ Love & Light Only – Shadow work exists, sweetie. So do protections.
9️⃣ “Prove It” People – Magic isn’t a circus trick.
🔟 The “Witchcraft is Evil” Crowd – We’re tired. Truly.

✨ Moral of the story: Witchcraft is personal. Practice your way, roll your eyes when needed, and keep it witchy. 🖤

🌿 1. Magical Burnout is Real

Constantly casting, learning, and practicing can drain your energy. Just like any spiritual or creative path, rest and mundane grounding are essential.

🕯️ 2. Not Every Spell Works

No matter how well you plan it or how pure your intentions are—sometimes the spell just… fizzles. And that’s okay. Witchcraft isn’t about control, it’s about connection.

🌫️ 3. Spirit Work Can Be Messy

Hedge-riding, ancestral work, or communing with spirits isn’t always crystal-clear visions and poetic whispers. Sometimes it’s confusing, emotional, or even a little spooky.

🌑 4. Shadow Work Isn’t Just Journaling

Real shadow work brings up trauma, regrets, and your own inner contradictions. It’s not aesthetic—it’s uncomfortable. But it’s also healing.

🧂 5. Protection Magic is Constant Maintenance

It’s not one spell and done. Wards, cleansing, boundary reinforcement—especially for hedge witches—is an ongoing practice, not a one-off ritual.

🌾 6. Your Practice Will Change (and That’s Healthy)

Witchcraft evolves with you. Tools, beliefs, and spirits may shift over time. Letting go of old practices doesn’t mean you’re a bad witch—it means you’re growing.

🔮 7. You Don’t Need to Buy Everything

The most powerful tools are often homemade, foraged, or found. A hedge witch’s altar might be full of bones, dirt, string, and feathers—not just crystal shop finds.

🕸️ 8. Witchcraft Can Feel Lonely

Especially if you’re solitary or don’t know other witches in person. It’s okay to crave community—and still walk your path alone. You’re still valid.

🕯️🌿 Witchcraft Tips by a Hedge Witch 🌿🕯️
Witchcraft isn’t always grand rituals and full moon ceremonies. Sometimes it’s tea in the morning with intention, or a whisper to the wind before sleep. Here are some of my favorite hedge witch tips for the everyday:

1. Tend Your Thresholds
Your doorways, windows, and garden gates are portals. Sweep them regularly, hang protective herbs like rosemary or rue, and speak a charm of welcome or warding as you pass.

2. Work With the Land Spirits
Before wildcrafting or harvesting, offer a pinch of herbs, a song, or a moment of stillness. Hedge witches walk between worlds—we honor both.

3. Use the Winds
Stand outside and listen. The wind carries messages. Ask your questions and feel which way the wind blows—north for stillness, south for change, east for clarity, west for release.

4. Keep a Hedge Journal
Track dreams, omens, plant allies, and spirit encounters. This becomes your own personal grimoire of the in-between.

5. Make Everyday Magic
Brew a protective tea with sage and honey. Stir sun energy into soup. Charge your bathwater with moonlight and sea salt. Daily acts become sacred when you do them with awareness.

🌙 Remember, hedge witchery is subtle, wild, and deeply personal. Trust your instincts, and listen to the land.

🪨🌿 Rhodonite: The Hedge Witch’s Stone for Heart Healing & Spirit Boundaries 🌿🪨

Rhodonite isn’t just pretty—it’s a grounding force for hedge witches who walk between worlds and tend to the soul. Known for its pink and black hues, this crystal balances deep emotional healing with protective energy, making it a quiet powerhouse in your witchcraft toolkit.

✨ Hedge Witch Uses for Rhodonite:

🌸 Heart Medicine – Use Rhodonite when you’re doing shadow work or after spiritual journeying to soothe old emotional wounds. It helps you hold compassion—for others, but especially for yourself.

🌿 Spirit Boundary Support – Hedge riding can stir up big energies. Place Rhodonite near your bed or altar after journeying to cleanse lingering emotional residue and reinforce energetic boundaries.

🍃 Spell Tip – Wrap a piece of Rhodonite in dried rose petals and tie with black thread. Whisper a release spell over it to help cut emotional cords that no longer serve your growth.

🌕 Use during the Waning Moon for letting go, healing, and emotional closure.

📌 Perfect for:
• Shadow work
• Ancestral healing
• Dream integration
• Grounding after spiritual flight

🧹 Hedge witches, don’t overlook this humble stone—it knows how to hold space while you walk between the veils.
