As if a red TRX needed any more presence.

We gave it some anyway.

The JD-10 Truck Cap for the RAM 1500 TRX is officially available.

And honestly, this one was fun to see come together. The TRX is already a lot of truck, so the goal wasn’t to tone it down — it was to add real storage and utility without making the back of the truck feel like an afterthought.

The JD-10 brings:

• Stamped aluminum construction
• Three-side access to the bed
• Lockable doors
• Exterior accessory panels
• Interior MOLLE panels standard
• A modular platform you can keep building around

Camping setup. Recovery gear. Tools. Roof storage. Whatever direction the truck goes next, there’s room to build around it.

The TRX was never really about being subtle.

Some places don’t need a pin dropped.

Tucked somewhere along the Columbia River, surrounded by more yellow than we knew Central Washington had.

Tent open.
River down below.
No campground reservation, no itinerary, no reason to be anywhere else.

We’ll keep this one off the map for now.

Some spots are better when you have to go find them yourself.

Utah has a way of making “one more night” sound like a really good idea.

Fridge loaded.
Heat ready.
Fuel packed.
Truck pointed somewhere with no cell service.

At that point, the destination almost doesn’t matter.

Almost.

So… where are we heading next?

This TACO came in looking good.
It left with weekend plans.

Underground 4th Gen Tacoma, now sitting on 35s with a CBI bumper, sliders, roof rack, awning, iKamper up top, a ROAM case, and the JD-10 Truck Cap tying the whole rear setup together.

At some point this stopped being a parts list and started becoming an excuse to disappear for a few days.

Camp gear up top.
Storage in the back.
35s underneath.

All that’s missing is a reason to leave town.

Subtle was never really the plan.

Voodoo Blue already does a pretty good job of getting attention.

Add the JD-10 Truck Cap, light up the side panels, throw some red accent on the doors… and yeah, this build is definitely not trying to disappear into the parking lot.

A little loud?
Absolutely.

But some Tacomas are supposed to be.

90 seconds of aluminum therapy.

This is a JD-10 Truck Cap going from cardboard boxes to a fully built setup on an Underground Tacoma.

Cut the boxes open.
Lay everything out.
Panels together.
Bolts in.
Doors on.
Repeat that about 47 more times.

Then comes the part that makes all the little hardware worth it — both side doors swing open and suddenly the whole thing looks like it belongs on the truck.

Basically adult LEGO… just heavier, aluminum, and way more useful when you’re done.

Ball joint has left the chat.

Something underneath the truck was definitely filing a complaint…

Squeak.
Squeak.
Squeak.

But the JD-10 truck cap up top?
Still locked in. Still solid. Still acting like nothing happened.

That’s real trail testing.
Not the pretty kind. The noisy kind.

The truck may have had some words with us after this one…
but the cap passed the vibe check.
