Small business anxiety and depression aren't talked about enough.
We always hear, "Support small businesses," but what does that really mean?
It means supporting someone's dream. Supporting someone who took a hobby and turned it into a way to provide for their family. Supporting someone whose business may be the only creative outlet or sense of purpose they have outside of everyday responsibilities.
Take a moment to look beyond the product. Look at the person who made it, the person standing behind the table, packing the orders, creating late at night after work, and sacrificing time with their family to make it all happen.
Small business owners don't always talk about the fear that comes with being vulnerable and putting their work out there for others to judge. They don't talk about the sleepless nights, the self-doubt, or the feeling that no matter how hard they work, it still isn't enough.
So before criticizing something, remember: just because it isn't for you doesn't mean it isn't for someone else.
Sometimes supporting a small business isn't just about buying a product. Sometimes it's about encouraging a person who is doing their best to keep going.
