There was a beautiful woman who attended the church I grew up in. She played the piano, sang beautifully, and carried herself like a beauty pageant queen. Her neck was long as a swan's and she always bedazzled herself with lots of fashion jewelry, especially long, dangling earrings that highlighted that lovely, long neck.
Yvonne was her name. Fitting.
All my memories of her include her smile. I never saw her ruffled or upset.
Yvonne left this earth a few years ago at the ripe age of 89. She lived a good life.
When she left, she left decades of costume and fashion jewelry behind.
I have ended up helping her daughter figure out what to do with it.
It's been a delight to sort through it and separate it by eras. A few pieces I think I can still remember her wearing, but it might be my imagination.
I am bringing the pieces to Sassafras so someone else will hopefully end up enjoying it and wearing it as beautifully as Yvonne.
I have researched hundreds of pieces and have made the prices affordable and fair.
The jewelry will not be in my booth, but Misty Morgan is setting up a display that will be ready soon.
There are a few pieces out at the counter right now with much more to come.
The nice thing about vintage jewelry is, even if it's not fancy-schmancy, it's such better quality than fashion jewelry is now.
