🌸 FALL PLANTING FEATURE: BABY BLUE EYES – DELICATE BLUE SPRING BEAUTY 🌸
Nemephila menziesii

Delicate, charming, and covered in beautiful sky-blue blooms, Baby Blue Eyes is a wonderful cool-season annual for bringing soft color to the spring garden. 🌱💙

With its low-growing habit and cheerful blue-and-white flowers, Baby Blue Eyes is a beautiful choice for flower beds, borders, cottage gardens, containers, rock gardens, wildflower plantings, and naturalized areas.

🌱 WHY GROW BABY BLUE EYES?

• Beautiful sky-blue, cup-shaped flowers 💙
• Delicate white centers with dark markings
• Low-growing, spreading habit
• Excellent for borders and containers
• Beautiful in mass plantings
• Great for cottage and wildflower gardens
• Excellent cool-season flower
• Attractive to bees and other pollinators 🐝
• Performs well in full sun to partial shade
• Prefers cool growing conditions
• Can be direct sown outdoors
• Adds beautiful early-season color
• Great companion for other spring-blooming flowers

🌱 WHY PLANT BABY BLUE EYES THIS FALL?

Baby Blue Eyes is especially well suited to cool growing conditions, making it a wonderful option for fall sowing in the Pacific Northwest. 🌿

Fall planting allows the seed to experience natural winter conditions before spring growth begins. As temperatures warm, plants can get a head start and produce their delicate blue flowers during the cooler part of the growing season.

Baby Blue Eyes does not appreciate prolonged heat, so growing it during the cooler months can help it thrive. For Northwest gardeners, this makes it an especially charming addition to a fall planting plan.

🌱 PLANTING TIP:
Direct sow Baby Blue Eyes in a well-drained location with full sun to partial shade. Scatter the seed over prepared soil and gently press it into the surface rather than burying it deeply. Keep the seedbed evenly moist during establishment.

Because Baby Blue Eyes prefers cool weather, fall sowing can be a great way to work with nature and encourage an early spring display. 🌧️🌱

💙 A LITTLE BLUE FOR YOUR SPRING GARDEN

There’s something special about seeing the first delicate blue flowers appear after winter. Baby Blue Eyes creates a soft, natural look and works beautifully planted in groups or mixed with other cool-season flowers.

Its compact growth makes it especially useful for edging pathways, filling small garden spaces, planting beneath taller flowers, or adding color to containers and rock gardens. 🌸

🌿 READY TO GROW BABY BLUE EYES?

Add this beautiful cool-season annual to your fall planting plans and look forward to a cheerful display of blue flowers next spring! 💙🌱

🌺 FALL PLANTING FEATURE: GODETIA – COLORFUL COOL-SEASON BEAUTY 🌺

Delicate, colorful, and especially well suited to cooler climates, Godetia is a beautiful annual that can bring an abundance of color to the garden. With showy, cup-shaped blooms and a wide range of colors and forms, Godetia is a wonderful choice for flower beds, borders, cottage gardens, cutting gardens, containers, and naturalized plantings. 🌱

Here at Silver Falls Seed Company, we offer several different kinds of Godetia, from dwarf varieties in individual colors to colorful mixes, tall varieties, and our native Godetia selection. With so many options, gardeners can choose the size, color, and style that best fits their landscape. 🌺

Godetia is especially well suited to the cooler growing conditions of the Pacific Northwest. It thrives in cool weather and can struggle when exposed to prolonged heat, particularly during flowering. In warmer parts of the country, including much of the southern United States, Godetia may not perform as well during the hotter growing season. In those areas, gardeners may have better success growing it during the cooler months or providing some protection from intense afternoon heat. 🌿🌤️

For gardeners here in the Pacific Northwest, however, Godetia can be a fantastic choice for fall planting. Fall-sown plants can establish during the cooler months and get a head start before spring, potentially leading to an earlier and beautiful display of blooms. 🌸

🌱 WHY GROW GODETIA?

• Beautiful cup-shaped flowers
• Available in a wide variety of colors
• Dwarf varieties are perfect for borders and containers
• Tall varieties add height and movement to the garden
• Available in individual colors and colorful mixes
• We offer both native and non-native selections
• Excellent choice for cottage and cutting gardens
• Beautiful in mass plantings
• Great addition to wildflower-style plantings
• Thrives in cooler growing conditions
• Particularly well suited to Pacific Northwest gardens 🌿
• Attractive to bees and other pollinating insects 🐝
• Adds beautiful color to the spring landscape
• Makes a lovely cut flower
• Can be direct sown outdoors
• A great flower to include in a cool-season planting plan

🌺 GODETIA – PINK TO RED

🌷 GODETIA – DOUBLE AZALEA

🌿 GODETIA – FARWELL TO SPRING – NATIVE

💜 GODETIA – LILAC
A lovely lilac-colored selection for adding cool, soft color to the garden.

🍑 GODETIA – PEACH
A beautiful peach-colored selection that adds a softer, warm tone to plantings.

Whether you prefer a specific color, a colorful mix, a compact variety, a tall variety, or our native selection, there's a Godetia for many different garden styles. 🌱🌺

🌱 PLANTING TIP: Fall can be an excellent time to sow Godetia in regions with suitable winter conditions. Direct sow the seed where you want it to grow, as Godetia generally does best when planted directly rather than transplanted. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil and keep the seedbed evenly moist during germination.

Godetia prefers cool growing conditions, so timing is especially important in warmer climates. In the Pacific Northwest and other areas with mild, cool growing seasons, fall planting can give plants a valuable head start. In hotter regions, consider growing Godetia during the cooler part of the year rather than expecting it to thrive through summer heat. 🌿🌧️

Godetia is also a wonderful choice for a cutting garden. Its graceful stems and colorful blooms can make beautiful arrangements and bring a little extra color indoors. 💐

With its incredible variety of colors and forms, cool-season growing habit, and native option, Godetia is a versatile and beautiful flower to add to your fall planting plans. 🌺🐝

🌺 FALL PLANTING FEATURE: RED POPPY – AMERICAN LEGION (Papaver rhoeas) 🌺

Bold, beautiful, and rich with history, Red Poppy – American Legion is a striking annual that brings vibrant scarlet-red blooms to gardens, borders, wildflower meadows, and pollinator plantings. Also known as Red Corn Poppy and Flanders Poppy, this classic flower adds a brilliant splash of color while carrying a powerful tradition of remembrance. 🌱

The Red Poppy is native to southern Europe and has long been associated with agriculture and rural landscapes. Its connection to the battlefields of Flanders after World War I helped establish the poppy as a lasting symbol of remembrance for those who lost their lives in conflicts throughout the 20th century. 🌺

Red Poppies are a wonderful choice for sunny gardens and naturalized plantings. Their vivid blooms make them especially eye-catching when planted in groups, and their flowers provide valuable nectar and pollen for a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies. 🐝🦋

🌱 WHY GROW RED POPPY – AMERICAN LEGION?

• Striking scarlet-red flowers
• Classic annual wildflower
• Also known as Red Corn Poppy and Flanders Poppy
• Beautiful addition to sunny gardens
• Excellent for borders and wildflower meadows
• Great choice for mass plantings
• Valuable pollinator plant
• Provides both nectar and pollen
• Attracts bumble bees, honey bees, native bees, and butterflies
• Excellent for adding bold color to the landscape
• Grows 12–30 inches tall
• Germinates in approximately 10–30 days
• Blooms in spring and summer
• Hardy in USDA Zones 7–10

🌱 PLANTING TIP: Fall is a great time to sow Red Poppy in climates where fall planting is suitable. Directly sow the seed outdoors in a sunny location, as poppies generally do best when seeded directly where they are intended to grow. Red Poppy can also be planted in spring, with blooms typically appearing about 4–6 weeks after planting under favorable conditions.

Red Poppies can also be enjoyed as cut flowers. Their stems can wilt quickly after cutting, but you can help extend their vase life by dipping the cut ends in boiling water or briefly singeing them with a match. 🌺

With its brilliant scarlet blooms, pollinator value, and meaningful history, Red Poppy – American Legion is a beautiful choice for adding both color and significance to your landscape. 🌺🐝

🌸 FALL PLANTING FEATURE: HEAL-ALL (Prunella vulgaris ssp. lanceolata) 🌸

Heal-All, also known as Selfheal or Lance Leaf Selfheal, is a low-growing Pacific Northwest native perennial with beautiful purple flowers and a naturally spreading growth habit. 🌱

As Heal-All grows, its stems can lean over and root where they touch the ground, helping the plant spread and form a dense cover. Its spreading habit and fibrous root system also make it useful for erosion control and helping stabilize slopes. 🌿

And there's another reason we love this plant: Heal-All can be used as a native lawn alternative! It tolerates regular mowing and can form a dense, low-growing mat while still producing its pretty purple flowers when allowed to grow taller.

🌱 WHY GROW HEAL-ALL?

• Native Pacific Northwest perennial
• Beautiful purple flowers
• Spreading, low-growing habit
• Useful for erosion control and slopes
• Can be used as a native lawn alternative
• Tolerates regular mowing
• Provides nectar and pollen for pollinators
• Attractive to bees and other beneficial insects
• Grows in full sun to partial shade
• Prefers medium-moisture soil
• Hardy in USDA Zones 4–9

🌱 PLANTING TIP: Fall is an excellent time to sow Heal-All in the Northwest. The seed benefits from cold weather before germination, so fall planting works well with our natural seasonal conditions. Sow directly where you want it to grow in a location with full sun to partial shade and medium moisture.

Heal-All can take some time to establish, but once it gets going, this versatile native can provide pollinator habitat, purple blooms, and useful groundcover all in one plant. 🌸🐝

🌼 FALL PLANTING FEATURE: SIBERIAN WALLFLOWER (Cheiranthus allionii) 🌼

Looking for a flower that brings together bright color, beautiful fragrance, and early season garden charm? 🌱 Siberian Wallflower is a cheerful, fragrant flower that can add a wonderful splash of golden orange color to the spring landscape.

Known for its striking blooms and sweet scent, Siberian Wallflower is a fantastic choice for cottage gardens, flower borders, rock gardens, mixed beds, and pollinator-friendly landscapes. Its compact, upright growth also makes it easy to tuck into smaller garden spaces where you can enjoy its flowers and fragrance up close. 🌼

🌱 Why plant Siberian Wallflower this fall?
• Brilliant golden-yellow to orange yellow flowers
• Sweetly fragrant blooms
• Beautiful spring and early-summer color
• Compact, upright growth reaching approximately 12–18 inches
• Excellent choice for cottage gardens and flower borders
• Great for rock gardens and mixed beds
• Attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators
• Performs well in full sun to light shade
• Prefers well-drained soil
• Tolerates dry conditions once established
• Hardy in USDA Zones 3–9
• Biennial, with the main floral display typically developing in the second year in colder climates

🌱 PLANTING TIP: Late fall is an excellent time to plant Siberian Wallflower. For Northwest gardeners, sow after the heat of summer has passed and temperatures have cooled. Choose a location with good drainage and full sun to light shade. Seeds can be started directly outdoors or started indoors and transplanted while plants are still small.

Siberian Wallflower is a wonderful reminder that a garden can be beautiful in more than one way. 🌼 Its vibrant flowers provide plenty of visual interest, while its sweet fragrance gives you another reason to slow down and enjoy the garden.

Because Siberian Wallflower is a biennial in colder climates, don't be discouraged if it doesn't put on its biggest floral display right away. 🌱 The first season can be focused on establishing the plant, with the floral reward coming the following year. A little patience can lead to a beautiful spring display of colorful, fragrant flowers.

Its compact growth habit makes Siberian Wallflower especially versatile. Plant it along walkways, in sunny borders, tucked into rock gardens, or mixed with other spring-blooming flowers. Wherever you grow it, its bright blooms and fragrance can bring a welcome burst of life to the garden after winter. 🌼

Here at Silver Falls Seed Company, we're proud to grow and offer quality seed from our farm in the Willamette Valley. 🌱 We're excited to provide a diverse selection of flower, wildflower, native, grass, and other seed varieties for gardeners and growers.
