A little wedding confession from a florist who should have known better… except at the time, I wasn’t a florist at all. 🤍

When I got married, I decided to do all of my own flowers. I used wooden flowers and faux flowers, and honestly… they were beautiful. I was proud of what I created, and at the time, I truly thought I was making a good choice.

I wasn’t in floristry. I had no idea what I know now about flowers, wedding setup, timelines, or everything that goes on behind the scenes.

But now, being on the other side of it, I can honestly say there is something about fresh flowers that faux flowers just can’t replace.

The movement, the texture, the fragrance, the little imperfections, and the way fresh flowers bring a space to life, there’s just something different about them. Faux flowers can be beautiful, but they will never quite have the same feeling as holding a bouquet made with fresh, living flowers.

And looking back, I really wish I had hired a florist.

Not because my flowers weren’t pretty — they were. But because I didn’t realize how much goes into the flowers beyond simply making them look beautiful.

Now I understand that hiring a florist is about so much more than paying someone to make pretty flowers.

You’re paying for someone to take something OFF your plate. Someone who knows how to bring your vision to life, troubleshoot when things don’t go according to plan, and make sure everything is taken care of, so you don’t have to worry about it.

So if you’re a bride debating whether you really need a florist… I get it. I was you. ❤️

My DIY flowers were beautiful, and I’ll always be proud of them. But if I could go back and do it all over again, I would choose fresh flowers. I would hire the florist. And I would give myself the gift of simply being a bride.

Maybe that’s one of the reasons I love what I do so much now, because I know firsthand that your wedding flowers aren’t just decorations.

They’re part of the experience. 🌸🤍
