Last Sunday while working at my booth, my service dog alerted me to an incoming seizure episode. We moved behind our tent so she could do her job and help keep me safe.
During that moment, someone approached us and continued asking questions even after I explained she was actively working and I needed space.
Please understand: when a service dog is working, especially during a medical alert, do not distract the dog or interrupt the handler. In those moments, our focus is safety, not education or conversation.
Service dogs are not pets in public spaces. They are highly trained medical support animals that can literally save lives.
The best thing you can do is give space, respect boundaries, and let them work.
