I love my child, but as a parent, I have a new appreciation for back to school season in more ways than I ever thought possible. I even find myself humming along to a mental replay of that old Staples commercial with the parents dance-shopping down the aisles to "Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. It's not just the end of hearing "I'm booorrrreeed" all day and night or the slight decrease on the weekly Shoprite receipts (although inflation sure canceled that one out this year...), but I was excited to go back to a PTO meeting and see other parents whom I only really see there. Probably as excited as my child was to see her "school only” friends on her 1st day of school.
Help get your kids back into the swing of all things educational - or get yourself a present of congratulations for making it through the entire summer in 1 piece. Not only do we have a wonderful selection of handmade leather journals from local artisan Kelly M. and adorable upcycled “junk journals” made by Chryl G., which are far from their moniker “junk” and perfect for scrapbooking their favorite memories throughout the year, but did you know that we also have a local children's author on our roster for the younger kiddos? Come pick up your own copy of “Dino Style: Dinosaurs& Graffiti” and “Dino Style: Stickersaurs” written, illustrated, AND SIGNED by local Somerville Children's Author Rob Ambrose at The Artist Apothecary. Hurry, because his 3rd book, “Dino Style Meets Prehistoric Mammals”, drops in a few weeks (we are also authorized to take pre-orders for this upcoming book for those interested).
Have a kid in college? We’ve got you covered there, too! Grab a few of the cosmic and fantastical 2 for $20 spray paint posters by Chris K. or some just dropped, brand new artwork featuring the most iconic characters throughout the entire American Horror Story franchise by Alison L.
All artwork and hand made items are made by local residents in Somerville and the surrounding areas, so not only will you get one of a kind stuff at unbeatable prices, but you're getting it from your friends and neighbors in the community and not a big box corporation owned by the 1%-ers currently destroying the world.
We are open Thursday - Sunday every week. Stop in, say hello, get inspired.
