Well, I’m unsurprising news, I’m shutting down my Etsy shop. I actually can’t remember the last time I added a product. 🤷‍♀️. I’ll still post sewing projects here cause why not. And this pic actually isn’t just a parting (and unflattering) shot. I made my top and bottoms and Little Red’s pjs too.

Well, I will spare you the grimy details. Let me just say that my seam ripper put in it’s lion share 😂. But that’s what happens when you start making stuff up. The short story is, after many adjustments, the finished product was too small for me! Happily, it fits my near-6-year old very well. She declined to have her picture taken, however, so just use your imagination.

Ok so life and illness and toddler-ness means less sewing, less posting. Which is really fine, actually. BUT. My coverstitch machine is starting to prove it’s worth (to me at least). Initially it was frustrating, but I expected that because “learning curve”. Because “high expectations.” So. But this fabric makes my Juki happy and I love that I’m getting these pants together in bits and pieces because slow equals “quality.”

You guys!! Best birthday present ever. This little number will up my game (I hope!) and makes me feel all profesh just to have it sitting there. But. I’m not very good at it yet. Do you like to sew? Can you recommend a tutorial for me?

Redo part two: and the skirt. Nothing too special, mind, but I got to keep those pockets! It’ll be good for laundry day. No play by play for the decisions that went into this one, because I’m ready to move on with life. I’ll just say, I used my seam ripper so often, my five-year-old started asking what she could “unknit”. We found something for her and spent a sweet ten minutes on the couch together, silently undoing seams. I told her if she got good at it, I might start paying her to unknit all my mistakes!

Ok revamp part one: I really did want a dress but it just didn’t work. And believe me, I tried! So here is the top half of the drawstring used-to-be-a-dress. I just cut off the top and added a tall band and ruched. Simple changes that took way too many little “snatches of sewing time” and forget about how many times I pulled out my seam ripper. So. A shirt. Comfy enough and cute, but I wanted a dress. 🤪

This is a cute dress, I think. Born out of a mash-up of t and dress patterns. But as I don’t generally like things tied around my waste, I should have anticipated that I wouldn’t like wearing it. And I don’t. It just doesn’t suit my figure, per se. but I really really love certain features- like the binding on the neckline and sleeves. And those pockets I made up all by myself. So I’m going to salvage this creation and get back to you. Soonish (or later-ish) depending on life-ness.
