I need to give a shout out to two women who helped inspire this new business venture. While there have been countless others along the way who have encouraged me and uplifted me, my friends Danielle Muir of D’s Freedom Farm and Desirae Foster of Tamales De Reina have been particularly helpful.
My friend Danielle and I bonded over handmade food (and our two rascally boys who introduced us initially). When I was first playing around with baking flavored sourdough loaves, she was already selling sourdough as well as produce and flowers from her own garden at the farmers market. She said, why don’t you just send me some of your bread and we’ll see how it does at my booth. That grew from dropping off a few loaves for her to sell for me to me attending the markets with her each week. Along the way, the opportunity she gave me allowed me to build my confidence as a baker. The positive feedback I got from both her and patrons at the market was so encouraging! She also showed me how I could easily become a regular vendor again, selling my wares and building relationships with regular market patrons. Eventually the light turned on for me and I realized I had the ability to take flight and do it on my own. I am forever grateful for the opportunity she gave me to believe in myself. This, right here, is what it means to lift people up!
The same can be said about Desirae. She’s a shining example of a determined goal-getter. Watching how she’s driven her own business from the beginning to her incredible growth has truly been inspirational. This girl has GRIT and I will forever do what can to help support her. Thanks to Desirae for allowing me a place to shine alongside her.
This world is full of gatekeepers and people who hoard their love, skill, audience & talents. Not these ladies. Be like Danielle and Desirae and go inspire and encourage someone to blossom into their fullest. 🌼 (And go follow their businesses on Facebook!)
