What’s going on?
We received an email a few weeks ago that we were not expecting - it’s all good stuff, super good stuff!
And a film crew was coming to the store to interview Paul and I.

They wanted to know how we survived this past year, being away from the business for months. Having our focus be on Paul, where it should have been. Typically businesses suffer but we not only maintained our businesses but actually grew. We opened up a new store and hit our first 1 million in sales for over a 1 year span in 2025.
We shared how our staff pulled together to run all our store’s as if nothing had happened. They kept it together, they ran the show, they are amazing.
Then our talented makers, they stuck it out and weathered the storm, amazingly, no one left. We appreciate their patience and commitment to Smith + Trade. They get our vision, they see it too.

It was an amazing day and it really made us take time to reflect over this past year. We love our staff and our makers, this is not just a business, it is an extension of who we are.

We are blessed in many, many ways.

We can’t wait to share more when the press release comes out in a month.

Thank you to our incredible staff, makers and to you, for your continued support over the last 7 years, especially over this past year.

Congrats to Dan -

Made paddle #800 when I made my first one in Feb of 2021 I never thought it would turn out like it has.
God has a way of doing the unexpected.
Thank you for coming along on this journey.
I also started to make some 48” paddles to go along with the 60” paddle.

Dan’s paddles are stunning, for the canoe, lake, outdoor enthusiast a handcrafted paddle makes a perfect gift.

Creating together can foster a shared calm-a sense of peace from being immersed in the process, side by side. The quiet, the peaceful energy allows a certain escape while exploring and learning together in community. Amidst the quiet, there’s harmony and connection.

For the last 20+ years, this group of friends has gathered once a month to craft, create, laugh and share time together.

There’s a shared courage in trying something new together that helps build confidence. Hats off to this group that remains committed to feed their creative, supportive spirit-this time around the class table at Smith + Trade. Lots of space to spread out with plenty of natural light.
