They’re back!
Each year we typically go to the cabin during Labor Day and hit the Traveling Art Tour up North. A few years ago, I came upon a women that made dried Gourde Pumpkins. They are so unique and beautiful, we ended up buying her out and now each year, it is a tradition
Last year we weren’t able to make it up North but this year we decided it was time, we can do this. We packed up, made it to the cabin. The Art Tour was not on my mind but I decided last minute on that Sunday to jump in the car, drive 30 miles, hoping to find the gourde maker and a few of her pieces….
It was our lucky day and the gourde lords were with us - there they were! I bought her out. YAY.
The process is quite time consuming, you can tell a lot of love goes into this craft. Growing and nurturing the gourdes. Drying them for over a year, carving out the insides, etching and carving the pumpkin faces, sanding them down, oiling and sealing the gourdes to reveal their natural color and beauty.
I just love them!
They make the perfect table decoration for the Fall season and they also come with a felt handmade stand created by the maker!
