Shumpert Family Farms We are a small family farm established in 1976 here in Sumter, S.C. All of our animals are extremely tame and love to be petted.

We currently provide fresh chicken eggs, blueberries, blackberries, Muscadine grapes, and figs for sale.

The McPhail family calls this beautiful country farmhouse The Homeplace. The orginal portion of the house was built in 1884, and additions were made in 1906. We were invited to the McPhail family reunion this past Sunday at The Homeplace where family members sat in chairs under the large trees and reminisced while children played in the grass nearby. The old house was filled with laughter and talking and the smell of delicious food wafted through the rooms and out the front screen door. I was fortunate enough to be loaned a McPhail family history book, so there will be a future post with the story of the McPhail family and the years they lived on this farm. Even without the complete story, all you have to do is look at this lovely old home and you will feel how special it is. (This is a private home located in Iva, SC.)

This is one of my favorite old homes in Anderson, SC. It’s definitely not faded or forgotten, but I’m sure it has a rich history. It is situated on Old Williamston Rd, and the area nearby is fast becoming developed and not the quiet countryside it once was. But this home is standing strong, more beautiful than ever, offering a glimpse into the past in the midst of the bustling busy world around it.
