We stopped by Forest Hill Cemetery last night for a cleaning job, and this was our first time visiting this cemetery in Moores Hill. What a beautiful entrance!

Julius died of influenza on October 9, 1918, and Michael was killed in action in France on October 15, 1918. Both brothers are buried in St. Martin Cemetery in Yorkville, Indiana. On this Memorial Day weekend, we will be honoring a few local servicemen who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. First on the list is PFC William Bernard Baugh. Baugh was a Korean War Medal of Honor recipient. Per Find-A-Grave: โ€œHe was awarded his medal posthumously for service along a road leading from Koto-ri to Hagaru-ri, Korea, on November 29, 1950. His citation reads: โ€˜For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a member of an antitank assault squad attached to Company G, during a nighttime enemy attack against a motorized column. Acting instantly when a hostile hand gr***de landed in his truck as he and his squad prepared to alight and assist in the repulse of an enemy force delivering intense automatic-weapons and gr***de fire from deeply-entrenched and well-concealed roadside positions, PFC Baugh quickly shouted a warning to the other men in the vehicle and, unmindful of his personal safety, hurled himself upon the deadly missile, thereby saving his comrades from serious injury or possible death. Sustaining severe wounds from which he died a short time afterward, PFC Baugh, by his superb courage and valiant spirit of self-sacrifice, upheld the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.โ€™โ€ William Baugh is buried in Glen Haven Cemetery in Harrison, Ohio. Thank you for you service and sacrifice. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ™

Another weekend, another cleaning! We spent our Saturday doing a handful of cleanings in Harrison, and we ventured to Glen Haven Cemetery which was a new location for us. It is beautiful, and there are so many unique headstones scattered throughout. We are very excited to go back around Memorial Day and highlight some of the veterans who are buried there.
This was the first headstone that we cleaned, and we are very happy with the results! When headstones are located under trees, it can create a moist environment. This can lead to the biological growth you see in the photos. Let us know how we did, and please reach out if you are interested in having a headstone cleaned!
