I'm excited to share my newly acquired piece, a truly special addition to my collection!

This rare Rogar Vintner Wine Opener is a heavy-duty commercial-grade opener, based on Michael Redlinger's 1897 U.S. patent. It's beautifully hand-finished with a hardwood handle and fashioned from solid cast brass, featuring an ornate design of numerous cherubs on both sides. Inspired by past designs and infused with 21st-century technology, it combines speed, functionality, and beauty, uncorking and re-corking a fine bottle of wine in seconds. This particular Vintner model is unique in the Rogar pedigree as it's no longer in production, making this solid brass casting a truly rare find and a collector's item. 🤩

Origin and History:

Demijohns are large, narrow-necked glass bottles that originated in Europe, particularly France, where they were called "Dame Jeanne" (Lady Jane). They were historically used for storing and transporting liquids like wine, spirits, olive oil, cider, and vinegar.

Appearance and Characteristics:

They are typically hand-blown and may exhibit imperfections like air bubbles or asymmetries, which are characteristic of older, authentic pieces. While often found uncovered, older demijohns were sometimes encased in wickerwork for protection during transport.

Modern Use:

Today, demijohns are popular decorative items in home decor, particularly in French country and farmhouse styles. They can be used as striking standalone pieces, as large vases for flowers or foliage (as seen in the image), or even repurposed into lamps.

Collecting and Value:

Both antique and vintage demijohns are collected, with factors like rarity, size, and condition influencing their value.
