Friends, I need your help!

I’m looking for wooden furniture in Cynthiana and the surrounding areas for future restoration projects at Firefly Handcrafted Home.

As a small business, my budget is limited, so I’m especially interested in pieces that are free, inexpensive, unwanted, or headed for donation. Even when a piece is free, there are still costs involved—repairs, supplies, hardware, paint, stain, transportation, and many hours of labor. Starting with a low-cost piece allows me to pass those savings along and offer beautifully restored furniture at more affordable prices.

Please don’t just check your own home. Ask your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, church members, coach, favorite bank teller, hairdresser, or anyone else you know in Cynthiana and the surrounding communities. The best finds often come from someone saying, “I know someone who has one sitting in their garage.”

If it’s made primarily of wood, I’d love to see it! Scratched, damaged, outdated, missing hardware, or in need of repairs is perfectly fine. Before it gets donated, discarded, or hauled away, send me a photo.

Thank you for helping me rescue quality furniture, keep usable pieces out of the landfill, and create affordable, restored pieces for new homes.

This beautiful antique writing table has found its new home.

Estimated to date from the early 1900s to the 1920s, this piece was originally designed as a writing table and still retains the openings for its original pair of inkwells. Long before laptops and smartphones, furniture like this served as a dedicated place for letter writing, record keeping, and daily correspondence.

The distinctive barley twist legs add timeless character, while the refinished olive-green base and natural wood top give the piece a fresh cottage-inspired update that honors its history.

One of my favorite parts of furniture restoration is preserving the story behind each piece while making it functional and beautiful for modern living.

Thank you to my wonderful client for giving this antique a new chapter in its journey.
