Ever heard of "hamburger hands"? 😬✈️
For this week’s , we’re looking at the origin of the zip tie! Back in 1956, engineer Maurus Logan toured a Boeing manufacturing plant and saw workers painstakingly tying thousands of feet of airplane wiring with wax-coated nylon cord. The rough cord cut their fingers so badly that the job earned a painful nickname: "hamburger hands." 🛠️🩸
Logan spent the next two years designing a better way, and in 1958, he patented the Ty-Rap—one of the world's first self-clinching cable ties. What started as an aviation safety solution is now a daily essential in every single toolbox! 🧰⚙️
