Celebrating our favorite new graduate home from boot camp with ten days of well-deserved leave and the exact menu he requested. The smoker is running hot with a full spread of ribs, homemade mac and cheese, creamy potato salad, and fresh broccoli salad to welcome him back properly.

Plus gives me a chance to practice!!

One thing I absolutely loved growing up in Chicago was when my parents made sun tea. There was just something about that big jar sitting outside, soaking up the summer sun, and knowing a refreshing glass of tea was waiting later.

Now that I’m living in Arizona, I figured… why not bring that childhood tradition back? ☀️

Dough throwing night was an absolute success! 🍕✨

I split things up and experimented with some incredible flavor combos:

Pizza 1 (Half & Half): Garlic shrimp with chili crisp, fresh peaches, red onion, and fresh mozzarella on one side; fire roasted tomatoes, garlic, red onion, and seasoned ricotta on the other.

Pizza 2: Fire roasted tomatoes, garlic, savory mortadella, fresh peaches, and crushed pistachios.

Both finished off with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh basil. Honestly... 10/10, completely YUMMY! 🤌

Safe to say, my new pizza steel is an absolute game-changer.

"Dad trust me - this is going to be a great hike!" Well figured we are going to have a great dinner why not.

Well she was right - this was a amazing hike. We hiked Picture Canyon Trailhead. WOW WOW

So I texted my daughter, who's up north, and asked, "We're coming to visit. What do you want for dinner? No steaks trying to keep cost down"

Then I walked through Costco and saw these beautiful ribeyes and filets. At that point, there was no turning back!

Dinner was amazing. Tracy made her AMAZING green bean casserole, we served up seasoned smashed potatoes, and those steaks were worth every penny.

FYI... not a single bite was left. That's always the best compliment!

I will say, cooking on an apartment complex grill was a little different. It's definitely not the same as cooking at home, but sharing a great meal with family made it all worthwhile.
