Many moons ago, I spent weekends behind a vendor booth volunteering with Bead for life (now ), a nonprofit dedicated to helping women living in extreme poverty in Uganda build sustainable futures through entrepreneurship.
At those events, I would share stories of incredible women who completed Bead for Life’s business training program and went on to start their own businesses. I sold beautiful paper bead jewelry handmade by women in the program, and every dollar went directly back to supporting the mission.
I had the opportunity to travel to Uganda with Bead for Life. One of the most impactful parts of that trip was sitting in on their entrepreneurial training sessions alongside the other students. I learned so much about business, perseverance, and the power of creating opportunities. Looking back, those experiences planted seeds that eventually inspired me to start my own business.
It’s been quite a few years since I’ve set up a vendor booth (unless you count Biscuits) But this weekend, I’m excited to dip my toe back into vending.
I’ll be sharing Outfitting Littles and how local families can turn their gently used baby and children’s items into extra cash through our semi-annual sales. I’ll also have a curated collection of pre-loved children’s items available to shop right on the spot!
I’d love to see some familiar faces, meet some new ones, and reconnect with this part of my entrepreneurial journey. If you’re out and about this weekend, stop by and say hello!
