🇲🇽⛏️ Guanajuato didn’t just grow above ground. Its history was also written beneath it.

For centuries, mining shaped the region, with silver playing a fundamental role in its development. Mines such as La Valenciana and historic districts like La Luz helped build the Guanajuato we know today.

But there is much more beneath its mountains than silver. 💎 Minerals such as aguilarite, along with quartz and other species associated with its veins, are part of a geological heritage as rich as the history found on the surface.

☄️ A rock that fell near Acapulco ended up giving its name to an entire family of meteorites.

On August 11, 1976, a meteorite weighing less than two kilograms fell near Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. But when scientists studied it, they discovered it wasn’t a typical chondrite: its material had undergone partial melting, revealing an intermediate stage in the evolution of its parent body.

Its characteristics were so distinctive that it eventually gave its name to the acapulcoites, a recognized family of meteorites named after this Mexican specimen. 🇲🇽☄️

Meteorites are small fragments capable of preserving stories that go back billions of years.

⛰️ THE NATURAL FACTORY OF CALCAREOUS ONYX ✨

Have you ever wondered how this impressive stone is formed? Hit play on the video and join us at one of the most interesting locations in the Tehuacán-Zapotitlán area to discover its true origin.

It all starts with a work of natural engineering: rainwater filters through limestone, dissolving minerals along the way. Upon finding underground fractures, calcium carbonate slowly precipitates, sealing the spaces layer by layer to form the famous calcareous onyx. This patient process creates unique characteristics:

▪️ Hidden geodes: In some fractures, hollows remain where the mineral grows freely, revealing perfect crystals inside.
▪️ Unrepeatable color bands: Small amounts of other chemical elements mix during formation, creating spectacular transitions of white, gray, yellow, orange, and green colors. No two pieces are alike!
