For this week's Friday IDE-Day post - I'd like to share a recent collaborative commission! Rich P spoke with me at the June Monster Bash Convention about creating a double-sided figure of Edgar Allan Poe coming out of an inkwell, with the backside featuring Death.
Inspiration: Rich provided an initial sketch at the con, and I responded with my sketch. He provided a more detailed sketch and we went from there.
Design: I used my standard body design as a starting point, creating the inkwell based on Rich's second sketch, and I re-used the skull from my Crimson Ghost design.
Ex*****on: I've created a couple of double-sided figures before, and the main challenge is when the fabric colors don't match on both sides - which means I have to pick which thread color to use. The embroidered text and lines came out well for the inkwell, and I decided to use a smaller font for Poe's name on the Death figure. Rich seemed quite happy with the result, as am I!
This figure is available for commissions (thank you, Rich, for giving permission!) and I'm toying with other similar author designs - who would you like to see?
