ā ļø SCAM WARNING FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS ā ļø
I want to share something that happened to me today so other small business owners donāt fall for it.
I was contacted by someone who seemed legit and was trying to pay for my services. Everything looked normal at first, but then they started pushing āverificationā steps that didnāt make sense ā including claims like needing to confirm recipient emails or that a ābusiness accountā required extra approval before sending payment.
Thatās when I realized it was a scam attempt.
š© Red flags I noticed:
* Pressure to āverifyā info that normally isnāt required for payment
* Confusing or overly complicated payment explanations
* Requests that donāt match how real payment apps actually work
* Trying to rush me or make me feel like I had to act immediately
Please be careful with any payments through apps like Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, etc. If something feels off, pause and double-check before sending anything or giving out information.
š” Reminder: Legit payments donāt require you to jump through unusual āverificationā hoops sent by the buyer.
Stay safe out there ā especially my fellow small business owners trying to grow and grind every day. It only takes one scam attempt to mess things up.
Feel free to share so others donāt get caught too š
