We had the pleasure of working on a custom candle with author, Liz Lazarus, for the release of her novel, 'Dawn Before Darkness'. We are honored to be a part of the book launch and share the news of the books release.

A psychological thriller that reveals the treachery of a ruthless stalker, the alarming failure of the legal system and the unthinkable battle a daughter must face to protect her family.

Dawn Smith, a vet tech living in rural South Carolina, catches her boyfriend in a series of lies and abruptly ends the relationship. Rather than accepting the break-up, he begins to stalk and harass her, forcing Dawn to seek a restraining order. Undeterred, he launches a deeply personal attack—suing for guardianship and conservatorship of Dawn’s infirm mother. In court, he manipulates the truth using evidence that he planted while the couple were still dating. A day in Portland can’t be without a visit to , just a short walk from the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. Along with an amazing selection of books, they have great sidelines and I had to pick up one of their signature Longfellow Books t-shirts!

We had a great time creating a custom candle collection for in St Thomas, Virgin Islands. The owner, Tom, requested 12 island themed candles with unique scents for his bookstore and they just arrived to his store this week! Our team loved the opportunity to make these for your store.

Another amazing stop on my drive from BOS to the Spring conference in Danvers was to in Salem, MA! Books, toys, stickers and fun gifts galore! Super friendly staff and great vibe.

Making my way through Danvers, MA for the NEIBA Spring Conference and had to stop by some of our bookstore accounts along the way. in the adorable town of Beverly was a must visit! I couldn’t help pick up a couple of pair of socks as I may have misjudged the weather forecast when I packed my suitcase ! 😂

With a heavy heart, we have a little chapter update for one of your favorite candles ✨📚

Our beloved Old Books candle is turning the page and getting a new name: Olde Books.

While the scent, cozy nostalgia, and well-loved library vibes remain exactly the same, we recently learned that another candle brand holds the trademark to the original name in the candle category. Out of respect for their name trademark 'OLD BOOKS'—and in the spirit of supporting fellow small creative businesses—we’ve made this small name change.⁠

Same candle. Same scent. Same dusty-bookshop magic. Just with a charming new old-world spelling we happen to adore.

HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT THIS? I have had a week or so to think about it, and while I respect this in a legal sense, it gives me negative vibes in an industry that I find so much connection and community support. I think it is sad to trademark a common name or phrase to block out competition. Just being honest.

Thank you for always supporting the way we continue to grow, adapt, and keep the story going. 💛
