Finally 26 months after 2 hurricanes, a flood, and hospitalization with Covid we finished the master bath remodel. My son made the countertop from concrete, thanks to our Alaskan friends with , CreteWRX Alaska, Phil Courtney. Cabinets made from White Oak feld in Hurricane Rita in 2005, milled to 1 1/4 inches thick.

I finally found it. A big lathe. F H Clement 20x60 wood lathe, 9 ft long weighing in around 900 lbs. Found it in New Orleans with a great history. Used by Dixie Manufactoring in New Orleans during WWII in making wooden parts for war ships. Later bought by previous owner in making New Orleans style replica copper gas lights.

Had a chance to turn a “camphor“ wood bowl and oh my did it engulf the shop with the smell. Opened all my sinuses up. Found a truck load of it this past summer at the curb being thrown away. I love the way the wood turns, had lots of oil in it with a close resemblance to mahogany wood grain but closed pores. Finished in clear paste wax.
