⏱️ Teacher Tip: Pause longer than feels comfortable.

When supporting AAC users, silence isn’t always hesitation. Many students simply need extra time to process what they’ve heard and decide how they want to respond.

Instead of repeating the question or jumping in with another prompt, try waiting just a few more seconds. That pause can create the space a student needs to communicate independently.

Every communicator deserves the time they need.

A well-organized classroom isn’t about having the perfect setup. It’s about finding little systems that make your day run a little smoother and give you more time to spend with your students.

One idea we love is creating individualized Goal Boxes filled with quick, grab-and-go activities that support each student’s IEP goals. Whether it’s sight words, math manipulatives, fine motor activities, or vocabulary practice, they’re a simple way to make every extra minute count.
