HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS — As the ghosts and goblins hit the streets Saturday evening, the Waco Police Department wants everyone to have a fun, and safe, Halloween.

Whether you’re trick-or-treating or traveling through the neighborhood, keep these safety tips in mind:

FOR TRICK-OR-TREATERS & PARENTS:

🎃Carry a flashlight or glow sticks to help others see you. Wear reflective clothing or reflective tape is also a great addition to costumes.
🎃Stay on sidewalks and use crosswalks whenever possible. As always, Look both ways before crossing the street, and never assume a driver sees you.
🎃 Trick-or-treat with an adult and stay with your group.
🎃 Only visit homes with porch lights on and never enter anyone’s home.
🎃 Inspect all candy before eating it.

FOR MOTORISTS:

🚗 Slow down and stay alert, especially in residential neighborhoods.
🚗 Watch for children crossing streets, walking between parked cars and entering roadways.
🚗 Avoid distractions and keep your eyes on the road.
🚗 Be especially careful during peak trick-or-treating hours. (5 PM - 9 PM)
🚗 Never drive under the influence.
