1974 Smith & Wesson Collector Series Bowie #0296

Based on the success of the S&W model 6010 Bowie, S&W offered the Collector Series of knives. A Limited Edition of around 800 serially numbered knives. Custom treatment of these knives designed by Blackie Collins includes an etched game scene on the blade, sculptured Sterling Silver guard and pommel and a hand engraved escutcheon inlaid on the handle. The knife was packaged in a wood presentation case with S&W logo. This knife is number 0296.
The new Aurum facility and was used to cast the solid sterling silver handle parts of the very first knife (or knife in series) that Aurum Etchings ever produced, it was the Smith & Wesson 1974 collectors series bowie knife designed by Blackie Collins, The blade etch was the finest level of detail that Aurum produced and were actually solid sterling silver parts, not to be confused with nickel silver. #0296-0725

Carl Schlieper Companion Survival Knife

The Carl Schlieper "Survival Companion" is a sought-after vintage German-made Bowie knife, known for its high-quality, ice-tempered stainless steel blade (often 440 steel) featuring a saw-back, clip point, half brass guard, and a hollow handle. It's part of the German Eye Brand collection, recognized for durable, hammer-forged blades from Solingen, Germany, and comes with a leather sheath and sharpening stone, making it a collectible piece. The Carl Schlieper 5.5" Survival knife is the most common verson. This the less common Companion with the 7.25" Black PVD coated blade.

SOG Trident S-2; Seki, Japan - Hattori

The Trident is the 2nd knife SOG had produced. A "maritime" version of the Bowie (S1) was made utilizing a black micarta handle and stainless steel blade known as the Trident. It was decorated with the US Navy SEAL emblem as opposed to the Special Forces Crest found on the Bowie. The original S1 and S2 classic bowies were manufactured for SOG by Ichiro Hattori of Seki Japan until 2006. Nylon sheath is ambidextrous and can be used for vertical or horizontal carry. This model has the faceted tip for easy pe*******on.

SOG Bowie S-1, the 1st SOG Knife

The S1 Bowie is the flagship model of SOG Specialty Knives Inc, the first knife design to roll off their production line. It is modelled after the exact knife that the brave men of MACVSOG used while in Vietnam for covert recon operations. This knife is gun-blued to a shiny hue, making it a very functional knife. It is one of the more collectible Seki Japan SOG Knives. The S1 Bowie is commonly known by some as the "5th Special Forces knife", but it was called the "SOG Bowie" by SOG.

Mike Sanders custom Louisana Bowie Knife

Sometimes I run across a breathtaking custom knife such as this.
This Louisiana Style Bowie Knife is a handmade custom knife by Louisiana Knife maker Mike Sanders and reflects his attention to detail. The overall length of the knife is about 11 1/8 inches with the blade measuring 6 5/8 inches. The top of the blade features ornate file work, it has a perfect stag handle and a unique pommel cap. The sheath was also made by Mike. It was purchased from Mike Sanders somewhere between 2007-2010 at the CAP Gun and Knife show in Lafayette, LA. Judge for yourself from the photos. MS-1224

Mike Sanders passed away in 2015.

SOG Bowie S-1, Seki, Japan
Many SOG enthusiasts prefer the early knives made in Seki, Japan.
Here is their 1st knife the Bowie Model S-1. The S1 Bowie is commonly known by some as the "5th Special Forces knife", but it was called the "SOG Bowie" by SOG.

The knife has a 6.25" blade of SK-5 high carbon steel with a high polish gun blue finish along with a leather sheath with sharpening stone.

SOG Tigershark S5 with 9" Blade; Seki, Japan

This versatile field knife dominates on land or sea. The larger version of the SEAL Knife, it has a massive 9" bowie-style blade that is powder coated and partially serrated. This striking knife is razor-sharp and strong with our deepest serration yet, so it easily takes on big or small cutting, slicing and chopping chores.

This is the largest model SOG had created to date. What originally started as the SK-5 steel satin-finished Tigershark slowly transformed into the powder-coated (SK-5 steel) plain-edged Tigershark in 1997, followed by the powder-coated AUS-6 plain-edge Tigershark and finally the addition of serrations to this Tigershark model in 1999. Serrations on a big 9" blade like this are appreciated and there is still plenty of blade for slicing. SOG produced later models of the Tigershark in Taiwan.
The SK-5 Tigershark is also the iconic knife used in the new "SOG split bullet logo", using the picture of it cutting the .45 pistol round.

SOG Government S 13 - Hoffritz; Seki, Japan

The SOG Government, ancestor of the Government Agent is the 13th knife that SOG produced. A great all-around outdoors knife and 2/3 the weight of the Seki, Japan Seal Team Knife. The SOG Government features the same 440a Stainless steel as the Seal Team 2000 and also has a pommel designed to be used as a field hammer; handy for pounding tent stakes.

It was sold by Hoffritz for Cutlery, a specialty retail chain selling cutlery, primarily in the New York area. Hoffritz grew reaching a peak in the early 1990s of 110 stores in 33 states. This is an early model knife as the knife and the sheath both say EDM, WA and Hoffritz went out of business in 1994.

Vintage Skachet Survival Tool
In 1962 Herbert F. Frisbie invented all purpose survival tool that could be used as a hunting knife, hatchet & hammer. Yet easily carried on your belt. All that was need was a short one inch stick that could easily be found almost anywhere.

While it didn’t excel at any particular task it did perform well enough to become quite popular. The Skachet rides in a low belt sheath and can easily be removed. From there it can be held like an Ulu and used as is for skinning, scraping and cutting tasks. The claim was even made that it would “actually outperform an ordinary hunting knife.”

From there, it can quickly convert into a hatchet/ hammer by cutting a one inch diameter stick. Then the tool is used to slightly taper the end. Finally, the stick was threaded into the tool tightly. The coarse threading holds everything solidly in place. With no need to pin or wedge the handle. Unlike other similar survival tools.
