🖼️ 3 Reasons That I Enjoy Printmaking 🖼️

1. It's really relaxing to carve the image. It's the same reason I used to crochet and knit - you just get into "the zone" and time seems to just fly by.

2. I get to make prints of things I find beautiful. Sometimes it's capturing an image from a memory, or something I saw during my walk through the neighborhood that I want to capture. Alaska is filled with a TON of beautiful things, and I'd love to attempt to capture the mountains soon.

3. I get to make art that I want to hang in my own home and hopefully others do too. 🫶🏼

Latest print now drying - some beautiful blueberries to add a bit of cheer and color! Challenging myself to do smaller prints. Summer is so cheerful, and even though today is overcast and damp, I'm so happy to be surrounded by all of the lush greenery!

Loving these vintage-inspired earrings! Blue teacups are probably my favorite thing of all time - when I lived in Germany I found a blue teacup set rimmed in gold and I absolutely HAD to have it.

These earrings are so lightweight and dainty compared to my usual style, which also means that they're super comfortable and I sometimes forget that I'm wearing earrings when I'm wearing them.

Since moving to Alaska, I have to admit that the winters are long, dark, cold, and honestly pretty rough for me. It's tough when the road conditions or the temperature keep you from going outside. It feels like the sun is barely out long enough to turn off the lights in the house and then you have to turn them off like 20 minutes later.

I've been so happy to see the sun peeking out again, and every chance I get I'm stepping outside to feel the sun on my face. It feels like everyone in Alaska is waking up from hibernation!

Literally, as I was printing this last night, I saw a family rollerblading down my road.

I felt so much joy printing this - I hope it brings you joy too!

I was inspired by watching the journey of to try lino cutting and printing by hand; you should definitely check out her IG!

I think most artists you know do more than just one type of art. After recovering from a nasty sinus infection I needed to take a break from earrings to do something new and relaxing - so I'm trying linoprinting!

I call this "Keep Rolling" - a reminder to myself when I was feeling sick to keep moving forward and eventually it'll pass.
