Father’s Day is coming up, and if your dad insists he “doesn’t need anything,” we both know that’s not true.

We’ve got fly fishing gear, camp goods, locally made products, vintage finds, and all sorts of things he definitely wouldn’t buy for himself, but will immediately claim are his favorite gift (from his favorite child) 😏

This is what it’s all about.

Today we had the privilege of donating 21 rod and reel combos, along with a large bag of tackle, to Hooked on Thursdays, a local elementary school fishing club participating in the Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs initiative.

Fishing gave many of us more than just a hobby. It gave us patience, confidence, quiet places to think, and people who took the time to teach us.

If even one kid discovers a lifelong passion, finds peace on the water, or creates memories they’ll carry forever, then every donated rod was worth it.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Rod & Tackle Drive and helped make this possible. It truly takes a community.

Here’s to bent rods, dirty hands, and the next generation of anglers.

It’s been a very slow past few weeks, so as we start to gear up for a busy summer season, we’ve decided to take our summer break a little early so we’re here and ready for you when it really counts.

Old Soul will be closed Thursday through Monday and will reopen Tuesday.

As much as I love being here, I also believe in practicing what I preach: spend time with the people you love, make memories, get outside, and enjoy the season while it lasts.

Thank you, as always, for supporting a small business that occasionally has to hang the “gone fishing” sign for a few days.

Some things don’t need reinventing.

A good tool bag. A firewood carrier. A cooler that does its job. A toiletry bag that’ll probably outlast your truck.

The older I get, the more I appreciate things that simply do what they’re supposed to do.

Carry the wood.
Hold the tools.
Pack the lunch.
Take the trip.

No batteries. No apps. No updates required.

Remember that post I just made stating we’d be closing up a little early today for a softball game? Well, the curveballs came early. We will be closed today, Tuesday June 2nd.

We’ll be closing up an hour early today at 3 PM to attend the Celebration of Life for my aunt, Carol Pelletier.

Many of you in the Waterville and Winslow community knew Carol as the sweet and sassy seamstress behind the counter at Soft Stitch. Prom dresses, recital costumes, military uniforms, wedding gowns, your favorite pair of jeans—she was the woman behind it all.

For decades, she helped people look and feel their best for some of life’s biggest moments, often without seeking any recognition for herself. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, a sharp wit that could keep you on your toes, and a heart that cared deeply for those around her.

Thank you for understanding as we take a little time this afternoon to celebrate a life that touched so many in our community.

We’ll reopen with our normal hours Tuesday.
