It’s funny how one day you’re standing in an empty, torn-apart space wondering what the hell you got yourself into… and then one night you crack a beer, look around, and realize the thing you pictured in your head is actually starting to exist.

Still plenty left to do.

But damn. Look at her.

My favorite corner to sit in and take it all in. The warm afternoon light leaks through the windows and creeps into all the right places. The dust swarms with every breeze then settles in gracefully. It smells of worn wood, ancient brick, and stories of the past. A light hum from the hustle of downtown echoes over the street, otherwise it’s pure silence… Unless you listen close enough to the stories these walls will tell.

I wonder how many people have stood right here before me. How many others worked long days beneath these ceilings. How many things were built, sold, fixed, carried in and out of these doors. How many times this place has changed while somehow still holding onto pieces of every life it’s lived.

Soon enough, it’ll be full again. Racks, shelves, old things, new things, people coming and going. And Old Soul will leave its own little mark on these walls.

But right now, in this strange in-between, when it’s still mostly dust, tools and unfinished work, I think this might be one of my favorite versions of it.

Quiet enough to hear what was here before me, and empty enough to imagine everything that comes next.

Every time I mention that the new store is a little smaller, I notice the reaction. “Oh… smaller?”

Like smaller automatically means worse. Like the goal of owning a retail store is supposed to be more square footage, more inventory, more stuff, more more more. And maybe a few years ago, I would’ve thought that too.

But after years of running retail stores, I’m just over the giant space filled with anything and everything just for the sake of filling it. I don’t want more. I want better.

I want a store that feels intentional. A tighter selection of things I actually love and believe belong here. More vintage. More fly fishing. More of the weird old s**t that makes Old Soul feel like Old Soul. Less inventory sitting around because I had a wall or a shelf that needed something on it.

I want to know what’s in my store. I want things to earn their place. And in all honesty, I want a business that doesn’t require me to constantly feed a giant machine just to keep it looking full. So, yes, the new store is a little bit smaller.

But I think Old Soul is actually going to feel more like Old Soul than it ever has.

Simplifying doesn’t always mean going backwards. To me it means you finally figured out what you actually want. And I know what I want.

Since we aren’t AS overwhelmed with things to move out of here, we are closing up the sale at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday)

Stop by between 11-1 and snag yourself a great deal. So many items are already stickered $5 or less, and I’ll probably be marking things down before we open up!

I have officially reached the “I am not carrying this s**t next door” stage of moving.

So we’re having an INDOOR YARD SALE.

Friday + Saturday, September 4 & 5, the old shop is getting cleaned OUT.

Old inventory. Vintage. Displays. Fixtures. Furniture. Random odds + ends. Things I forgot I owned. Things I swore I’d use someday. Things I simply refuse to move another 30 feet.

Some of it’s Old Soul. Some of it’s just… s**t I have. Which is a lot.

Cheap prices. Good finds. Everything needs to go.

103 Main Street. One last lock of the door.

This place held a hell of a lot more than a store.

It held the beginning; “Rebirth 3.0” as I’ve coined it. It held the figuring-it-out-as-I-went. The good months and the scary ones. Long days, late nights, ideas that worked, plenty that didn’t, and a version of Old Soul that grew and changed right alongside me.

I built things here. I screwed things up here. I learned what kind of business I wanted to run, and more importantly what kind I didn’t. I met people who became friends, watched strangers become regulars, built dozens of rods behind that counter, took chances I probably had no business taking, and somehow kept finding a way forward.

There were days this place made me feel like I was exactly where I was supposed to be, and days I wondered what the f**k I was doing.

But that’s kind of the whole story, isn’t it?

103 Main gave Old Soul room to become something real. And now I get to take everything I learned here and carry it a couple doors down.

So I locked the door for the last time today, cracked a Miller Lite, and looked around for a minute.

Not sad. Not really.

Just really f**king grateful for what happened inside these walls.

See you soon at 107 Main Street❤️
