Got a call on a GE refrigerator that was leaving a puddle of water on the floor in front of the unit.

After digging into it, I found the drain plug frozen over and the drain duck bill clogged up, causing the defrost water to back up and freeze instead of draining properly.

Removed all the ice buildup, thawed the drain hole, cleared the blockage, and eliminated the duck bill to prevent the issue from coming back. Water is now draining exactly as it should and the floor is staying dry.

This 25-year-old washer wouldn’t fill with hot water. Tracked it down to a failed water valve, installed a new one, and she’s back to washing like she should.

While I had the washer pulled out, I took a few extra minutes to clean the floor behind it for the customer. They had also seen my recent dryer cleaning post and asked if I could take care of theirs while I was there. So the dryer got completely torn down and cleaned out, and the dryer vent got cleaned as well.

A simple service call turned into a little preventative maintenance that will help this laundry setup run safer and more efficiently.

Another one that proves why proper diagnosis matters.

Customer called because their washer wouldn’t drain. The unit had already been down for 3 weeks and another local appliance repair company had replaced the suspension shocks and the drain pump trying to fix the issue but never put water in it or tried to drain it.

The problem? Neither part had anything to do with the actual failure.

After digging into it and doing some real troubleshooting, I found the drain hose was completely clogged. No expensive parts needed. No guessing. Just taking it apart, finding the restriction, and cleaning it out.

As you can see in the photo, the clog was hanging right in the elbow of the drain hose.

The washer is now draining perfectly and back in service.

Sometimes the best repair isn’t replacing parts—it’s finding the actual problem. 🔧

Double whammy yesterday!

Customer had a basement flood that left about 8 inches of water around a nearly new washer and dryer. Unfortunately, water and electronics don’t mix.

The flood took out the stator on the LG washer and the drive motor on the Whirlpool dryer. After replacing the failed parts, both units are back up and running like they should.

Crazy part? These appliances were only 1 year and 1 month old.

Sometimes the smallest things cause the biggest messes.

This LG front load washer was leaking water from the access drain tube. After taking a look, I found the drain tube was packed full of sand and debris, preventing the water from draining properly.

The customer had tried pulling and wiggling the tube to get it to drain, but unfortunately it rubbed against the sharp metal edge surrounding it and tore a hole in the tube.

Installed a new drain tube, cleaned everything out, and got the washer back to operating the way it should.

They sure don’t build them like they used to.

This 30-year-old Estate washer came in with a locked-up gearcase. Most people would’ve been shopping for a new washer by the end of the day, but the customer decided to fix it.

Installed a new transmission, buttoned everything back up, and it’s running like a champ again.

This Whirlpool convection microwave turned into quite the diagnosis.

The convection element would glow red hot, but the fan wouldn’t run. Testing showed the fan motor was good, but it wasn’t getting power. After tracing the wiring and running continuity tests, I found a broken wire hidden deep in the harness.

Turns out the mouse I found during a previous repair caused more damage than we originally thought. Whirlpool doesn’t offer a replacement harness, so I had to dig deeper, repair the damaged wire, and splice in a new section.

Convection fan is now running and the microwave is back in business!

GE side-by-side refrigerator that had no water, no ice, and all the interior LED lights were flickering. To make matters worse, the relay on the main control board was constantly clicking, driving the homeowner absolutely nuts.

After some troubleshooting, the culprit turned out to be a failed main control board. Got the new control installed, programmed, and tested. The clicking is gone, lights are working normally, and the water and ice dispenser are back in business.
