SPJNA MEMBER NIck Rod runs out of San Jose Del Cabo. Fishing/jigging the local banks in 120’, which hold nice fish, such as this fantastic Broomtail Grouper.

See report below from a pioneer getting it done on SPJ on the left coast of Mexico.

"Current was cooking so I was having to reset every couple minutes. Those conditions had just rocked me up so my buddy tossed me his setup. Second drop this broomtail followed the jig up about 50’ off the bottom and absolutely SMOKED me. Luck was on my side that I didn’t hook up near the rocks as I was severely under gunned. He went on a few ripper runs but I eventually got him to color after about 10 minutes. Thinking it was going to be a big AJ, I was totally amped when we saw this guy! Didn’t weigh him, but 45-50lbs conservatively. Definitely my PB Broomtail!!!!"

Line: 30lb Power Pro

Some of you have cork handle slow pitch jigging rods and absolutely love them to bits .....but...are wondering, "How do I clean these things?"

I stumbled across these magic sponges searching for a remedy on YouTube. I cleaned 1 rod a year or so ago and shelved the other two until I got a chance to share the transformation with you guys.

I hope this little tip will help with your tackle upkeep. I'll leave a link here, hopefully you can copy and paste or just copy and Google.

These rods are 7 years old. I think i just took 5 years off them with this little and easy touch up.

Yesterday.. I believe a member was asking about binding for the Gamakatsu 510s in 4/0. I've gone away from Snelling and gluing. I have more confidence in Japanese tying style with thread. These were tied a year ago and the glue dried, so there a little wrinkled...nothing a little salt water won't cure 😁

Hook: Gamakatsu 4/0
Cord: ASS PE 20 Flouro Core
Solid Ring: Owner 4/0
Glue: Solarez and cured with UV Light
Thread: Hobby Lobby ... don't ask for brand or diameter 🤣
