These hand-fabricated sterling silver feathers left the store the other day!🪶✨

Each feather was carefully handmade using slow, traditional silversmithing techniques, with every detail shaped by hand. Lightweight, timeless, and made to be worn and loved for years to come.

There’s something special about creating pieces the old-fashioned way — using only silver sheets and wire, several tools, and a whole lot of patience.

Thank you for giving these little feathers a new home Kelly!

🎨 Artist Highlight: Brett Giaconia

Today we’re highlighting Brett Giaconia, a talented painter from Port Henry, NY, whose work brings the beauty and atmosphere of the Adirondacks to life.

Brett’s work is rooted in Impressionism and begins outdoors, on location. He starts each piece with rough sketches, establishing the composition and values that become the foundation of the painting. From there, he returns to his studio to thoughtfully develop each work, balancing direct observation with careful refinement.

What makes Brett’s paintings so special is that he isn’t simply trying to recreate a scene. His goal is to capture the way he experiences it—translating light, atmosphere, and emotion into paint. The result is expressive work infused with his own perspective and energy.

We’re so excited to feature Brett’s work here at The Finishing Stone and to share another talented local artist with our community. His paintings are a beautiful reminder of just how much inspiration can be found right here in our own backyard.

✨ NEW CLASS ALERT! ✨

I just posted a NEW Hammered Silver Hoop Workshop for October!

Come spend an afternoon at the bench learning the foundations of silversmithing while creating your very own pair of handmade silver hoop earrings. You’ll learn how to saw, shape, solder, hammer, texture, file, and polish your earrings — and you’ll leave with something beautiful that YOU made with your own hands!

There are also a couple spots left in some of the other upcoming classes, so if you’ve been thinking about trying silversmithing, now is the perfect time to jump in! I’ll be posting more tonight!

And a little sneak peek… I’m planning to roll out a more advanced stone-setting class in November! This class will take the skills you learn in the beginner workshops to the next level and introduce techniques for setting a stone into your own handmade piece.

If stone setting is something you’re interested in, the classes currently posted will serve as prerequisites for that upcoming class, so now is the time to start building your skills!

Come learn something new, meet some wonderful people, and create something you’ll be proud to wear.

Hi friends! Just a little heads up that The Finishing Stone will be CLOSED this weekend, Friday–Sunday! (September 11-13th)

Joe and I are heading to Otis Mountain Get Down, like we do every year, so I’ll be set up there selling my jewelry as a vendor! We’re always excited to get back out there and be part of it.

Joe will be at the shop today, and I’ll be there tomorrow from 12–4 if you want to stop in before we head out!
