Home and unpacked and trying to cool off... this weekend ran up to Excelsior Springs for the BBQ Fly-In on the river and man was is hot.. Jim and his whole crew do a fantastic job at making sure teams are taken care of.. This year was way bigger than before and had 86 teams battling it out to Try to earn a trip to Vegas for the BWC and 1 million dollars...My cook felt a little weird but nothing major and I thought I turned in some decent food and the judges somewhat agreed and the results are as follows

9th 🐖 Prairie Fresh Pork
35th 🐮🤯

Good enough for 17th overall out of 86.. they say some comps teams just dont do well and thats for sure me with this contest cant seem to shake the monkey off my back but it's bbq and it is what it is and on to the next one.. huge congrats to Triple H BBQ on the dominate GC and BBQ Maestros on the RGC and to everyone else who heard their names called..

180 club

Twenty-four 180s. One very good weekend of barbeque.

Across KCBS-sanctioned contests, 24 entries reached one of our toughest benchmarks, earning a 180 from a table of KCBS Certified Barbeque Judges.

A few teams even did it twice at the same contest, as noted on the graphic.

Different contests. Different tables. Different entries. The same benchmark.

Always great to make the list

Twenty-five trips to the 700 Club.

That’s a lot of outstanding barbeque in one weekend.

Twenty-five scores of 700 or better were recorded at KCBS-sanctioned contests, led by Colorado Bulldawg BBQ with a 710.2628.

Congratulations to every team that crossed the 700-point benchmark this week. Those scores were earned one box at a time in front of KCBS Certified Barbeque Judges.

Well this weekend after 6 weeks off from cooking i knocked the dust off the drums and trailer and ran over to one of my favorite comps ever Baldwin City Recreation Smoke on The Bricks in Baldwin City KS.. it was a hot one and Matt and his whole crew do a fantastic job at making this comp what it is... after not getting the draw for the Jack which the draw was on my oldest birthday i set my eyes on one of those bad ass throphies from JAWbats, L.L.C. that made custom bats for the comp and i knew i needed one since my boys love basebal land would love it. I could tell I been off from cooking but still managed to turn in some decent food and the judges agreed the results are as follows

1st 🐔 with a Perfect Perfect 180 Sanderson Farms Chicken

15th 🍖 Prairie Fresh Pork almost forgot to turn in haha

15th 🐖

19th 🐮 Snake River Farms

Good enough for 8th overall out of 52 teams with a 700.5144

I wasn't expecting much coming of a break but I got a bat for my boys and they love it..(no we won't use it)

Congrats to Jordan Kirkpatrick with Janky Leg BBQ on the GC and my good buddy and friends Parts R Smokin on the RGC and everyone else who heard their names called..

The results are in and unfortunately wasn't lucky enough to get drawn for the Jack this year.. but want to say huge Congrats to everyone that did and get to go for the first time and the ones that get to go back to the holler again huge achievement... I wanna shout out my buddy Bocephus BBQ on getting the Auto so excited for you man.. Go Win it... Now that I can put the phone down and after a long 6 weeks off its time to get the truck and trailer loaded to head back on the trail and go to Baldwin City for Smoke On The Bricks...

Today is a big day.. Couldn't hardly sleep.. I have my fingers crossed for the draw and being one of lucky ones that get to go cook in the holler it would be a dream come true.. Good luck to everyone today who is waiting to see if they made it to The JACK.... 🙏🙏🤞🤞

Ran over to the 12th Annual K of C BBQ Smoke off 4-life in KCK this weekend.. thought I had a decent cook besides the mishap with brisket and me dropping my slices on the floor and then trying to make a box with 6 pieces 🙃 the judges somewhat agreed and I will run the same cook again minus the Brisket mishap.. the results are as follows

11th 🐔 Sanderson Farms Chicken
21st 🍖🤷🤯
6th 🐖 Prairie Fresh Pork
17th 🐮 Snake River Farms

Good enough for 16th overall out of 33 congrats to Brew N Bar-B-Que on the GC and Derrick Sullentrup with the RGC and to everyone else who heard their names called.. the best thing about this is I made my Oldest baseball games on Friday and today.. love watching #18 play ball...
