Heather chose the fabric to coordinate with this amazing hat by , but it also wears perfectly with this vintage dupatta and jewelry by . She also crocheted her purse, and the dress is modified from a pattern. We love it all!

In February 2025, we partnered with the Museum of Gloucester in England for a behind-the-scenes tour of selected pieces from its collection. During the tour, we examined a variety of fascinating garments, including one gown from Janet Arnold's book Patterns of Fashion 1, and discussed the pieces' construction, textiles, and ownership. We invite you to experience this tour of the garments by Angela, Brooke, and Brenda alongside our students.

We've got some great new fabrics for this Temptation Tuesday! First up is a lovely sky blue twill worsted wool in a light weight. Then, two more cotton lawns in a daffodil yellow and off white. Lastly is a light grey medium weight linen. We hope you find some of them tempting!

Check out the wonderful work our participants have done so far on their “Cassandra Stays”. While channels continued to be sewn and seams whipped, Amber of Virgil's Fine Goods demonstrated how to finish stays…covering seams, binding, bustrails, belly piece and lining. We can’t wait to see these finished and we’ll fit stays at future workshops !

Check out some highlights from day 1 & 2 of the “Cassandra Stays” workshop with Amber from Virgil's Fine Goods ✂️ 🧵🪡 Participants learned how to get a good fit for a pair of 1760-70 stays, cut & baste all their pieces and begin to sew their channels. A pair of stays is one of the most essential garments for creating the proper look of most 18th century women's impressions, but can be one of the more difficult garments to fit and stitch. This weekend, Amber Mendenhall Welch of is leading a 3-day in person workshop on how to construct a well fitted pair of "Cassandra Stays". Based on several existing stays in collections dating from the late 1760s-1780s, the Cassandra pattern melds modern body shapes with the intricate historical layering, construction techniques, and silhouette. Follow along in stories and our feed as the weekend progresses.
