Mona & Associates Design, LLC announces that its handcrafted cardboard Phoenix sculpture, brought to life by the voices, visions, and hopes of the greater Winston-Salem community, will be displayed and installed at , an experimental learning museum, beginning July 4, 2026. The installation marks the next step for a project that began as a spark of community creativity at Piedmont Environmental Alliance Earth Day.
The Phoenix was conceived as an interactive public art experience at the Earth Day event, inviting participants of all ages to inscribe personal messages of hope and imagination directly onto the sculpture’s feathers. Prompted by the phrases “Message of Hope” and “Imagine if…,” community members, neighbors, children, educators, and dreamers left words displayed on the wings of the rising bird. The result is not just a sculpture, but a living record of collective aspiration.
“This project is a testament to what happens when a community shows up for itself,” said Mona King, Founder and Chief Creative Cultivator of Mona & Associates Design. “The Phoenix doesn’t just symbolize renewal in mythology; it reflects our shared truth: that we are stronger together, more creative together, and full of hope together. Every feather carries a real voice.”
