Okay, Facebook!! 🖤✨ I’ve been CRAZY busy with work lately, but I am SO freaking excited to finally announce this!!

On Sunday, September 27th, Functioning Out of Spite will be a vendor at The Ascension at The Rock at Edge-O-Dells!

And of course, I’ll be there with my sister and fellow witch, Jackie from House of Jay! 🖤💜 You already know when the witchy sisters get together, we’re bringing the witchy goodness, chaos, laughs, good energy, and FUN! 🧙‍♀️✨

✨ LET ME REINTRODUCE MYSELF — AND FUNCTIONING OUT OF SPITE LLC ✨

It’s been a while since I’ve really introduced myself and explained what Functioning Out of Spite LLC actually is… so hi. 👋🏼 I’m Nicole, and I’m the human behind all of this beautiful, creative chaos.

And if you’ve ever wondered about the name… Functioning Out of Spite is exactly what it sounds like. 😂

I created this business because I wanted to prove something to myself.

That I can do it.

Life has come at me sideways more times than I can count. Plans change. Doors close. Things fall apart. You get knocked down, you get back up, and sometimes you keep going simply because something inside of you says, watch me.

That’s the “spite.”

Not bitterness. Not negativity.

It’s the stubborn little fire that says, I’m going to build something anyway. I’m going to create anyway. I’m going to chase the things I want anyway.

And maybe by doing that, I can remind someone else that they can too.

💜 Functioning Out of Spite is everything and something at the same time.

I’m a creator. I don’t want to put myself into one little box, because you honestly never know what I’m going to make or learn next.

Right now, you’ll see things like:

🧲 Handmade magnets — funny, inappropriate, witchy, cute, custom and everything in between.

✨ Handmade suncatchers — each one created individually with a lot of thought, planning and attention.

🌿 Fresh and dried herb bundles.

🧹 Homemade eco-friendly cleaners that actually clean your home while leaving it smelling fresh and clean.

🦟 Outdoor bug-repellent sprays.

🌱 Different handmade items using the herbs I grow and work with.

🔮 I also have an intuitive side. I can read people, but it isn’t something I perform on demand or automatically do just because someone approaches me. Sometimes something simply comes to me—and when it does, I listen.

And now I’m teaching myself even MORE because apparently I don’t know how to sit still. 😂

I’m starting to learn how to make spoon and fork jewelry, and I’m learning more about creating with copper wire, beads and other materials.

That’s one of my favorite things about this business.

There really aren’t rules about what Functioning Out of Spite has to become.

If I can imagine it, I might try to make it.

And when I create something, I put time into it. I plan it. I play around with ideas. I learn. I mess things up. I try again. I obsess over little details. And eventually something that existed only in my head becomes something I can hold in my hands.

THAT is what I love.

I’ve already posted several handmade pieces and products that are currently available for sale, including my suncatchers, magnets and other creations you’ve seen me share here. If you’ve seen something I’ve posted that you love, ASK ME IF IT’S STILL AVAILABLE!

I also take custom requests depending on what you’re looking for and whether it’s something I’m able to create.

I’ve been working my regular 8–5, plus a whole lot of OT—including weekends. I’ve been helping build a team, working through the backlog, and putting in some serious hours. I’m proud of the work I’ve been doing, but this witch needs to remember she has a whole life outside of work too. 😂🧙‍♀️

So it’s time to get back to creating!

My sticker paper and ink FINALLY came in, which means Functioning Out of Spite LLC is officially taking orders for custom stickers and magnets! I’ve also got a few new catchers, hanging herbs, and TONS of fresh herbs we’ve been growing. 🌿 My peppers are coming in—slowly but surely—and my cilantro decided to choose death, so we’re starting over from seed. 😂

I’ll also be planning another market day with Jackie soon because this witch has NOT forgotten her mission: VEGAS. ✈️🎰🌵 I am still determined to get my ass back to Las Vegas to see New Kids on the Block, and apparently I am now willing to explore alternative revenue streams to make this happen. 😂

Which brings me to Prick and Ween.

Prick was given to me by my friend and former coworker Rose during one of the absolute worst times in my life. The way she gave him to me was brilliant, funny, loving, and exactly what I needed at the time. So Prick has always been special to me. ❤️🌵

Then this summer, I found Ween at that farmers market on the side of the highway in Baraboo.

You know the one.

So today, after working my ass off, I decided to take a break, sit outside, enjoy this gorgeous weather, and admire Prick and Ween.

Naturally, I sent Rose a Prick pic.

But why stop there?

I sent her a Ween pic.

And then… things escalated.

Suddenly I’m taking several carefully positioned, tastefully angled photos of Ween and proposing the possibility of launching an OF page for a cactus. 🌵📸😏

If you understand where this went, congratulations. If you don’t, you probably shouldn’t have made it this far into the post. 😂

A witch has gotta hustle.

Vegas isn’t going to pay for itself, and apparently Ween may need to start contributing to this household.

So now I need a name for Ween’s page.

🖤 Functioning Out of Spite… Until Vegas ✨

I’ve made a decision…

I’m going to document this entire journey.

The good days.
The slow sales.
The exciting markets.
The late nights creating.
The moments I wonder if I’ll ever make it.
And hopefully… the moment I finally arrive in Las Vegas.

I don’t know how this story ends.

Maybe I’ll simply end up at another incredible New Kids on the Block show.

Maybe I’ll make lifelong memories with fellow Blockheads.

Maybe this journey will introduce me to people I never would have met otherwise.

What I do know is this…

I’ve spent a lot of my life putting everyone else first.

This time, I’m choosing to chase something that brings me joy.

So if you see me posting new creations, sharing market days, celebrating sales, or laughing at the chaos along the way, just know you’re watching this dream unfold in real time.

Thank you to everyone who’s already encouraged me, shared my work, shopped with my small business, or simply believed in me.

One thing I’ve learned over the last year is that life is too short not to tell people when they’ve made a difference in your life.

Watching the New Kids on the Block on Adam Ray’s Netflix special reminded me why I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember.

Their music has been part of my life since I was little. My mom had them playing when I was a kid, and somewhere along the way they became part of the soundtrack to my own life. Through every chapter, they’ve been there.

My Spotify Wrapped for 2025 even confirmed what I already knew… the only artist I listened to all year was New Kids on the Block. 😂

After watching them talk about always putting their fans first, it reminded me of something I’ve seen for years. They’re just five guys who have never forgotten the people who helped get them where they are. That kind of gratitude matters.

So, as I’m working toward my Functioning Out of Spite: Vegas or Bust goal, I had an idea.

I asked my friend Angela—my favorite cookie lady—if, when the time comes, she’d be willing to ship some of her amazing cookies to the guys (or their team, if they’re able to accept them) as a little thank-you from a lifelong fan.

Angela has been one of my biggest inspirations, too.

I’ve supported her business since the beginning because she pours so much heart into what she does. Every morning I’d watch her walking videos and get my daily pep talk. And every single one ended the same way…

“I Love you.”

Such a simple phrase, but it sticks with you.

The world could use a lot more people willing to say those words and mean them.

So today I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you to the people whose music has been part of my life for decades.

Thank you to the small business owners who inspire me every day.

Thank you to the people cheering on this crazy Vegas dream.

Maybe nothing comes of it.

Maybe everything does.

Either way… I’m grateful for the journey.

Here’s a little inspiration behind my motivation to get my ass back to Vegas to see my boys again! 😂❤️

This man right here is Danny Wood’s father — Mr. Wood, as I should have called him.

Now, in my defense, I had absolutely NO IDEA who he was. I never realized that Danny’s dad occasionally hangs out at Blockhead Headquarters in Vegas, meeting fans, talking about Danny and the guys, and getting to know the Blockheads.

So here’s how this beautiful disaster unfolded…

I had met another Blockhead outside, we took pictures, she introduced me to her family, and I introduced her to Nick. Then she casually says to me:

“Donnie’s dad is inside!”

EXCUSE ME?!

I jumped up and said, “WE HAVE TO GO MEET HIM!”

So we go inside. I find this sweet man, walk right up to him with all the confidence in the world, and say:

“Hi, Mr. Wahlberg! I absolutely LOVE your family!”

And this man looks at me and says…

“I’m Mr. Wood.”

💀💀💀

Y’all. The way my face must have looked when my brain immediately caught up with my mouth and the entire Wood family story flashed through my head.

I was MORTIFIED.

All I could manage was, “Oh my God, I’m so sorry! I love YOUR family too!” 😂

Thankfully, he laughed. We chatted for a bit, took a couple of pictures, and he was just the sweetest man.

So yes, I have another reason I need to get back to Vegas. I need to find Mr. Wood, address that man PROPERLY this time, and let him know that I watch Danny’s cooking videos.

Do I cook?

No.

Have I made any of the recipes?

Also no.

But do I watch Danny cook?

Absolutely. 😂😂😂

Mr. Wood, if I make it back to Vegas, I promise I know who you are this time.
