Still not sure what to get dad for Father’s Day?
I just finished up these two beauties and have them available for local pickup in time for Father’s Day!

The first is German chevron-patterned Damascus steel blade hand-forged into a 4.25” drop point hunter with a poured epoxy resin and hardwood combo handle with G10 liners and pins.

The second is also a German chevron-patterned Damascus steel blade hand-forged into a 4.25” clip point hunter with some stunning stabilized Turkish walnut handles with G10 liners and brass pins.

These are both one-of-a-kind, hand-made knives. Once they’re gone, they’re gone and there isn’t another one just like it. These aren’t even on the website yet, so message me quick if you’re interested.

Big week for my sweet friends Aaron Groseclose & Christa Groseclose as they move back home to GA after three years away.

I’m so grateful for their trust in me as their realtor. This is the fourth home sale I’ve had the honor of helping them close. This new home really does seem like the perfect fit for their family and I wish them many years of happy memories there!

And what better way to celebrate, than with a big bottle of champagne and a new custom, hand-made kitchen knife from Koda Blade Company as a house-warming gift? (I may need to make a Koda Blade Co chef knife my go-to closing gift!)

FISHERMAN-FATHER FATHER’s DAY SPECIAL!!!

I was honestly SHOCKED that this knife made it home from the Blue Ridge market and is still available. But with Father’s Day right around the corner, this little KBC tracker might just be the perfect gift for the fisherman-father in your life!

This one-of-a-kind, hand-forged knife is made from 80crv2 high carbon steel and finished with rainbow trout g-carta handles with green G10 liners and pins. With a perfectly contoured handle profile and two different sections of finger jimping along the spine, this knife is comfortable and easy to index whether cutting rope, cleaning fish or dressing game. It’s the perfect companion for the campsite or tail.

This knife is one of one. It’s the perfect unique gift for the special father in your life. Click the link below to get it now in time for Father’s Day.

Getting ready to make mokume-gane.

To clean the quarters I washed them in some dish soap to remove any oils. Then I soaked them in acetone. To get them clean & dry, I decided just to light the acetone on fire and allow it to burn off.

Next, I have to stack the quarters to get them ready to forge weld. Most folks these days weld the stack before putting it in their forge. However, I don’t have a welder, so I’m doing it the old fashioned way (sort of). I’ve seen where smiths in years past would use wire to bind the stack together to go into the forge. I decided to use copper wire, instead of steel, because I figure if the copper welds into the stack, that’s just more copper in the mokume-gane, and you know, the more the merrier.

So now I have my quarters cleaned, stacked and bound in these copper “baskets”. Tomorrow I’ll put them in the forge and attempt to weld the stacks into little billet bricks that I can use to start building the guard for a knife project. Stay tuned to follow along.

Cleaning and prepping some quarters for some mokume-gane for a guard. This is my first attempt at making mokume-gane. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot. Stay tuned to follow along with my process.
