What are you seeing here? These are Hidalgo leather tree western saddles with bolt-on forks! This way, if your horse changes, you can change how the fork sits behind the shoulder/wither area!

Check out this handsome gaited horse. He is SO cool! His mom lovingly calls him her “hyper mobile baby giraffe.” 😂

What’s particularly interesting about this video is that he’s being asked to move in a newer, not-yet-broken-in leather tree saddle by Haven Horsemanship (HH)—and the saddle didn’t slip forward OR backward.

Why is that interesting? Two reasons:

First, this horse normally needs a breast collar to help keep his saddle from slipping. He wasn’t wearing one with the demo saddle because he has a scratch in that area, and his mom was genuinely shocked that the saddle stayed put without it.

Second, a brand-new leather tree saddle can sometimes slip or shift a little before it’s broken in, especially without a rider’s weight in the saddle. That doesn’t automatically mean the saddle doesn’t fit. A leather tree doesn’t rely on rigid tree points, bars, or rails like a traditional rigid tree. It needs some time and use to begin conforming to the individual horse.

I think this is such a cool example of what I love about a properly fitted leather tree: it can act almost like an extra layer of skin—moving, flexing and twisting WITH the horse rather than working against his movement.

This is the HH Uno, featuring adjustable panels, adjustable stirrup iron placement, a shimmable seat option, multiple seat-cover choices, a synthetic suspension arch for spinal clearance, and lots of customizable options.

And apparently, it passes the “hyper mobile baby giraffe” test.

The HH Uno demo is going REALLY well for my lovely client!! ❤

My client has been testing the Uno on three of her hard-to-fit horses — one very wide, one medium-wide and one quite narrow. So far, she says the saddle is sitting level and secure on all three.

Her narrow GAITED horse normally needs a breast collar, but couldn't wear one because of a scratch. To her surprise, the saddle stayed right where it belonged without it. She can even mount from the ground!

The different billet and stirrup bar positions have also been really helpful for adjusting the saddle to each horse and to her.

Best of all, she's having FUN. 😂 She told me saddle demos are normally more like an “acid bath,” but she loves the Uno and doesn't want to send it back!

We now know exactly what seat, cantle, flap and panel sizes we'll want when we order hers.

Today she's taking it out on the trails for the next test! 🐴❤️

I am receiving excellent feedback on the HH Uno demo saddle! -----what types of things did I hear?

-Wow! What nice quality on everything! Including the fittings (hardware)
-Sits level
-Secure
-very comfortable to ride in
-rigging works great for hard to fit "pony bod" horse
