You guys know how much I love a good natural immunity boosting hack! Insert Propolis!
Immune benefits of propolis : did you know bees don’t just make honey, they make a substance called propolis. Propolis has been around for thousands of years, ancient civilizations used it for its medicinal properties.
I discovered propolis a year ago after hearing the founder of on the and I became obsessed with how efficiently it worked to support sickness or infection. Last Summer we took the boys on a trip and right before we left everyone got a sore throat and stuffy nose, not ideal! We were going to a secluded mountain cabin so we packed the car and the propolis spray and dosed everyone and after 2 days we were 100!
Researchers have identified more than 300 compounds in propolis. The majority of these compounds are forms of polyphenols. Polyphenols are antioxidants that fight disease and damage in the body.
Specifically, propolis contains the polyphenols called flavonoids. Flavonoids are produced in plants as a form of protection. They’re commonly found in foods thought to have antioxidant properties.
Propolis is thought to have antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Bees make propolis to line the walls of the hive to keep germs out, so make sense it would have those properties.
If you are allergic to honey or bees, then this wold not be for you, but if you aren’t I think it’s worth looking into.
Always consult your pediatrician when giving the real littles any form of honey.
This is not medical advice. I am sharing what we love and one thing we keep in our holistic medicine cabinet.
We currently (even kids) take 1tsp a day of the B Powered Superfood honey which contains bee pollen, royal jelly, honey, and propolis. This is medical grade and is meant to support your body. I double up on this if anyone is sick in the house :) Again, what we do. This is not medical advice.
