Soapbox Moment: I am a Conqueror

Four years ago I put a call out for school supplies so that I would be able to participate in one of the “Back to School Drives” under my son’s foundation the Aaron Nicolas Hamilton Ashby Foundation. I never realized how difficult it would have been. This year with the help of his sister and my dear friend Cadi Leerdam Mason we conquered a task I never thought I could and that was to go into his room and do what needed to be done.

While there we discovered the school supplies that I had received that I had just tucked away in his room. Well this year I am finally giving them out at the Tutu Park Mall USVI back to school event to. So please visit me and get what your child/ren may need while supplies last. We have rulers pencils books crayons sharpeners… Bit before I go I want to thank everyone that donated especially my sister Fete ByColette who went above and beyond the box and sent barrels.

July 9, 2020, changed my life and my family forever. The loss of my 14-year-old son has tested my faith in the God I know who brings beauty out of ashes, purpose out of pain, and triumph out of tragedy.

For my mental and emotional health, I was challenged to find ways to cope with my loss and was able to bring my pain to fruition through sewing. The creation of Allie Kyat Design was born as a rebirth of my son, Aaron Nicolas Hamilton Ashby.

The Aaron Nicolas Hamilton Ashby Foundation’s premise is to work to ensure that no other parent will endure the pain and trauma I have experienced these past three years. The foundation’s mission is rooted in promoting awareness and creating programs designed to support adolescent males in our community. These programs will be centered on addressing at-risk behaviors, mentorship, entrepreneurship, and mental health.

As you purchase these beautiful bags, you are making a public statement of commitment to ending the violence in our community. You are also making a declaration that the life of my son was not in vain.
