A close-up of my lovely new Betty-Kit logo created by the talented . Nattie creates personalised, handpainted illustrations, cards and logos. She puts so much thought into her designs and they are just delightful. Anyone wanting a personalised card should check her out on Instagram and Etsy. Nattie also made me this beautiful 'Dear Kit' design after hearing the story of how the name of Betty-Kit came about.
Back in the 1950's when my parents were engaged but living apart, they corresponded with each other the old fashioned way, by handwritten letters and met up as often as they could. Fast forward past their wedding, a family and a lifetime together and after they had both passed away, going through their belongings, I came across a large stack of letters, written by my father to my mother during their engagement. My mother had kept them all, tied up in ribbon inside a now vintage paper bag.
The letters addressed to my mum, Betty, were many but so were the letters addressed to her as 'Dear Kit' (an affectionate name my father had decided to adopt for my mother). I have only read a few of his letters as I still feel that they were not written for my eyes but their great love for one another was very obvious.
So when looking for a name for my little crafting business, Betty-Kit was the perfect choice. After painting my logo, Nattie went one step further and painted me another design depicting the envelope bursting with beautiful flowers, paying homage to the "Dear Kit" sentiment ♥
